Are both going to become available in Early period?

As far as I know it isn't yet possible to add a 2nd strap and the belly boxes are a mod made by someone else :

I've just pmed Toon' to see if this will be a replacement skin for Black Watch or a stand alone unit but if the latter is true should I go for the Black Watck model with added officer gear or the one I've used for other units ?? Same goes for the drummer. Also if trousers for officer/drummer make them tartan???
I think tartan trousers would make them blend into the unit alot better but I don't want to be way off .... So if it's possable this could be right this is the idea I'd like to go with

I would definitely have it replace the original Black Watch unit, but rename it 71st Line (as its a different uniform from the 42nd Regt AKA Black Watch). Unfortunately the original Black Watch unit in ETW doesn't even do the 42nd justice. Yours is the first uniform looking Highland unit in the game!

In terms of the musician, they would wear what the men would be wearing so technically he should have a kilt, however I know you are currently unable to alter to the models to accommodate this. While historically the officer would probably have white breeches and the musician would have a kilt, you should probably use some artistic license and give them both tartan trews to retain that Highland flair.

On a side note, I thought you all might enjoy this video. It's from the movie Der Grosse Koenig made during the 1930s I believe. Pretty impressive filmwork for the time!

    Update:

American Mod works fine regardless. I have no problems with it. As for the French mod, sadly, I'm starting to believe that it's the Ancien Regime ETW re-texture mod I have installed along with it's sub infantry addition mod, that's conflicting with you're French mod. I can't select more than half a stack of units from both mods within a custom battle before it crashes unexpectly. If anyone knows that Ancien Regime ETW re-texture is compatible with these type of mods, it would be appericative. Otherwise, I'll keep looking. I noticed another member has a similar problem such as my own. I'm wondering if he found a solutition to it as well.

The last time I tried the French units, it worked. I am not sure if there was some combination of new units that I used before that was preventing the game from starting.

Agreed. This was not an age of subdued colors in military uniforms.

Not meaning to make an argument here, but if you notice, the artist who drew those made the tone of the skin exactly the same as the yellow/orange/brown colors of the pants etc. that you see.

It looks more like the artist was being lazy or was lacking the proper paints and pigments than being completely accurate.

Just a critique from a painter myself though.... I don't have any historical basis for my opinions.

You may be right in terms of the exact tone. I personally would be hesitant to use any paintings as a reference (for uniforms, equipment, color tones, what have you) unless they are specifically painted by contemporary military artists (who often created books of illustrations according to exact regimental specifications) or are contemporary portraits done of a subject. Later paintings would require some additional research to ensure that they are, in fact, correct. For example, the painting that Kave-In posted of the 71st being overrun at Cowpens... While the event is correct, a blatant error is the fact that they did not have kilts that late in the war (and definitely not the 'great kilt' style that is depicted). Also they would have had red plumes in their caps in their bonnets in addition to the black by this point. Finally, they were driven back and eventually overrun by Continentals, not militia. They had broken the militia early on.

Here is a contemporary portrait of a Captain in the 10th.. The yellow is clearly YELLOW.

Zaphod & 71stRegGenCoy!! can i remind everyone it is just a bloody game!! who cares if the colour is slightly wrong, again this is my thread and it is being wasted on useless discussions, these discussions stop now or i contact a moderator to sort this out.
Please use my thread in reference to useful conversation and not on ridiculous discussions on"this colour is not right" etc.., my suggestion is if your not happy with what modders have created, go get Photoshop/Gimp/Microsoft Suite etc... and make your own units!! a lot of valuable time, effort and hard work goes into creating these units!!

    ....

I think that was a bit uncalled for. This is obviously intended to be a historical mod that is actively adding historical content... Not to mention other discussions of correct uniforms and such have long preceded my own. I joined the conversation because I actively study the period and was making some information available as a friendly gesture. I feel that is a poor way to deal with people who are showing your mod support, especially when they have done nothing out of line or malicious in any way..

    Well ... On a lighter note ...

71st officer & Drummer now done + new full length trews (the line stills shows but after much messin' it's ain't 2 bad) for the grenadiers + new faces !!!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Edit: At the risk of gettin' a bollockin' from Mr.Toon I feel I must point out that the original post sayin' that 'they are to yellow' was from ages ago and talking about a continenal line infantry uniform ...

    I think Hesse-Cassel is supposed to have a K, not a C.
I am aware that Kave In has RR reskin, but as far as I know (DL-ed the version on his thread a few days ago, no change in officer or bugler), unless he has recently changed it. I'm also not very interested in getting the whole mod either even hough it's fantastic (Almost too much stuff! But it would be nice if you made a mod that made the GB drummers and officers seperately, those gorgets are pretty cool!)
