[ETW AAR] - Luctor et Emergo - The United Provinces

Well I'm gonna start out a new AAR. It will be written from front to end without (or mostly) without pictures.
Rules:
Campaign difficulty: normal
Battle difficulty: normal
Play style: Campaign map only, all battles are auto-resolved.
I will start using Dutch words in the AAR I will slowly build it up and only use these words for army's, nations, territorys and places.
Translations:
Gulden: Dutch Currency, I might also use Daalder which is 1.5 guldens or Rijksdaalder which is 2.5 Guldens.
Vloot: Fleet
Leger: Army
Marine: navy
Eerste, Tweede, Derde, Vierde, Vijfde: First, Second ... Fifth
Nationale: National
Stadhouder: Stadtholder
Luctor et Emergo
The year is 1700, the Golen age is at it's end. The United provinces need a new direction if they wan't to compete with other great powers of the world.
The current situation is very benefitial for the country. We have bases all around the world and a few minot navy's to protect us from the Pirates that no doubt will try to block of our trading routes.
The new cabinet is formed as such:
stadhouder: willem, Although not the best choice he will fill up the position quite well.
Hoofd minister: Adelbert Jakobsen, Neither is he the best but there are far worse candidates.
Minsiter van Financiën: Willem Ouwater, One of the better candidates for it's post.
Minister van Justitie: Jan van Mieris, fair and wise he will do the job.
Minsiters van Defensie: Johan Friso, a true militairy and logistic genious and Jan van Linschoten, equally skilled as his land orientated counterpart.
Gouverneur van de oost-indies: Henk Vanderwerken, quite skilled at his job really.
Gouverneur van de Amerika's: Jurg witters, Fullfils his position with equal skill.
The first orders are immediatly commisioned.
"The economy of the Lowlands and the colony are not at it's maximum, they must be upgraded imediatly."
"Jazeker mijnheer, how much should we invest?"
"As much as we can afford."
"Building reports sir, we have spend 7300 gulden on constructing new buildings"
"Very well, Willem how much money does that leave in the treasury?"
Önly 200 guldens mijnheer Willem"
"Alright we will have to stay alive with all the forces we have, Johan will you manage?"
"Yes mijnheer there are no significant army's in the area"
"Very well and what about enemy fleets Jan?"
"Well mijnheer there is a pirate fleet very close to one of our trade routes I suggest we attack them, we already have a fleet in striking range. I can send them the order right away."
Very well send out the order. We must eradicate those pirates before they become too strong."
"Yes mijnheer"
"Are there any other questions?"
"No mijnheer not at this time"
"Very well this meeting is finished we will meet again shortly"
One month later off sore of the Dutch colonys in America a Dutch fleet and a small pirate fleet meet. The Dutch outgun the Pirates with two frigates, one 47 guns and one 32 guns, and a brig and sloop against only 2 pirate brigs and a sloop. Admirall Gerard Callenburgh give the order to attack.
After the smoke has lifted there are 3 dutch ships remaing. The sloop had sunk in an attempt to capture one of the pirate's brigs. One of the Dutch brigs finished the job.
the Dutch flagship has suffered no Damage at all though the other ships and the cuptured ship have suffered great damage. The fleet returns to port after the battle to wait for further instrunctions and repairs.
Though most of the ships were severely damaged the Dutch treasory was neary enough to repair the ships. Only they were only 1 Gulden short but with the income said to be made in the nest turn this would be no problem at all.
6 months later
"welcome gentlemen it seems that already another half year has passed. Are there any matters that need our attention right away?"
"Yes mijnheer a pirate fleet has blocked our trading route in the strait of madagascar."
"well then send out our fleet!"
"But mijnheer our fleet is not recoverd from the last battle with the pirates!"
"Fine send out word that they need to hurry up with the repairs"
"Yes mijnheer"
A young scribe comes running in.
"Mijnheer, mijnheer we have word from another pirate fleet blocking our trade route at the ivoorkust."
"well then send out our european fleet to deal with them."
"Certainly mijnheer they are on their way now but it will take some time before they get there."
"Now on to other things are some of the buildings that we have orderd done yet?"
"yes mijnheer we have some new peasant farms ready close to Amsterdam."
"very well send, how are our other territory's?"
"Well mijnheer our county's in the Americas have also received a great deal of money to imrpove the local economy but Ceylon has received none as of yet. The people are demanding financial help."
"we can only send them litle money for our treasury only contains 2000 gulden and we need an army to capture flanders as soon as pssible."
"yes mijnheer but can we spare 1000 guldens to establisg a gouverneur? that would be of great help to keep the population happy and increase our tax income."
"Very well you may do that. Johan how many more men do you need to capture Flanders from the Spanish?"
"Well mijnheer i would first like to start with a new set of Sakers they would come in real helpfull with the siege."
"Send out the order to produce them we can spare that money."
"Yes mijnheer. Another point I would like to train some more militia's in the Americas. the French seem to be building up a force for themselves."
"Do what you can to prevent those bloody flowers to take away our territory."
"yes mijnheer"
"Is it possible to increase taxation in some areas Willem?"
"yes mijnheer it is. I have already increased taxation. this would result in 1200 guldens extra the coming 6 months."
"Alright there are no more questions? Then i will see you next year gentlemen."
After 'negotiatons' that lasted over 6 months the Dutch now have several new allies. Westphalia, Venice, Savoy and Genoa. These small countires will surely be of some help in the future. Along with that a trade rout with Westphailia has also opened up. this will bring in another 300 Guldens.
1701
Another four buildings have been completed which will certainly increaincrease the wealth of the United Provinces. 2 open gems pits and a gold mine will also provide for more trade income. On top of that the government now has it's own source of woopd which will prove more reliable then buying it.
Johan Friso has commisiond the recruitment of two units of the line to be plced under the direct order of Hendrick of Nassau-Ouwekerk which will complete his force that will try to drive out the Spanish from the lowlands for good. A rake is also in the area which will spy on the Spanish before the assault.
There have also been many investments in the infrasructure of the country. Simple roads have been commsioned in the colony's. The American navy set sail for the Straat van Madagscar to eradicate the pirates holding up in that area. There they will group up with the Indian navy that will set sail for the Americas afterwards to help the american navy to smoke out the Pirates.
Due to the massive increase of regional wealth the projected income for the next 6 months has also increased dramaticly. alomst 2800 Guldens to a massive 6000 Guldens.
Also Hoofd Minister Adelbert Jakobsen has resigned in favor of Dieter vermeulen whom is more skilled and will help keep the diplomatic relations with our new ally's in good order.
6 months later
Another six months have passed in which the nhabitants of the four provinces have continued with their lives, unaware of the troubles that the government finds itself in.
A young boy walks the street:
"The latest news War with Spain! War with Spain! Read all about it in the Telegraph!"
WAR!
'Our great nation has declared war on our closest enemy's, the foul Spanish. Our glorious forces have captured the city of Brussels after a short battle. The Spanish were utterly defeated and the Dutch marched in while they were being coverd in flowers.
The Spanish are to weak to defend their own country and had to ask their low ally's for help! Our government could not let this go uncontrolled do our ally's have joined the fight with us! From now on all that trade with the French, Spanish or Bavarians will be put to death for treason. Our ally's The Austrians, Venitians, English, Westpalians, Savoyans and Genoese will help us destroy the Spanish bastards and take what is rightfully ours!
Minsister resigns
The minister van Justietie Jan van Mieris has resigned. He felt that he was not up to the task set out for him. He will be replaces by Diedrik Blijstra. We wish him best of luck with his new position.
Massive tax cuts
Minister van financiën Willem Ouwater has cut massivly in taxes. All taxes are cut for all classes of popualtion to ensure the groth of wealth. the minister has done this with the eye on the future and for the health of the population. For one cannot fight or produce when one can't live due to taxation
Best in the world
The United provinces are now officially the strongest economal power of the world. The naval power of our mighty nation must laso not be underestimated. The koninklijke Marine is the third strongest in the entire world, second only to Our great ally Britain and our enemy Spain. But due to our superior orginization we can match all of them in terms of striking strenght.
1702
A leap forward in technology gentlemen. This technique will let us confie animals to a small space where they can be caught more easily and it will certainly increase our food production.
1703 - 1705
An army has been recruited to attack the french in the Elsas but they had been driven back. The stadhouder doesn't give up so easily and is resuplying the army and recruiting aditional soldiers.
The pirate navy's attacking the Dutch trade routes have been chased away. A French trding navy has also been sunk.
1706
Strasbourg has fallen! the Dutch now control the Elsas.
There have been more naval battles and the pirates are now utterly defeated. Though this has cost the Dutch navy's a lot of ships and the French now have numerical superriority in the Amerika's
A war has broken out between Oostenrijk and Pruisen. The Dutch do not forsake their ally's and thus have enterd the war on Oostenrijks side.
1707
There have been few skirmishes with the French and one of their sixth rates has been captured. This strenngthens the Dutch navy in Europa even more.
A massive French army has set out to destroy the smaller despersed Dutch army's patrolling the French borders. They were no match to the french numerical superiority.
A small Spanish scouting party has been destroyed. the borders are now secure and the Stadhouder has turned his atention towards Amerika. The French have to be driven out of the Southern parts so the Dutch can reestablish their vast netowrk of trading routes.
1708
After the army stationed in the Elsas was defeated almost half a year ago the French made a lowhearted strike at the capitol. The citizens provided them with a good fight but it was of no avail. the French were better trained, had better armament and even had more numbers. A small force has been dispatched from Amsterdam to retake the Elsas.
The batterd and bruised Europese vloot has made it's way to Antwerpen. When the ships were taken in and examined the dockmaster was astonished. The ships were actually sinking all the way back from Madagascar. The ships are currently being repaired.
In Paramaribo a small army is being raised to capture the nearby city of Cayenne. This will drive the French away from their foothold on the mainland of Dutch-Amerika.
French have started to raid the country side with about 160 soldiers. The Amsterdam garrison has been dispatched to take care of it.
The Europese vloot has blocked trading towards Le Havre severly cripling the French economy. The pride of the navy is the captured Kraken a 58 gun galjoen. It is the centre of the blockading fleet. Though it is not very fast , not very manouverable and it's crew is not the best it packs a mighty punch with almost twice as much guns as a Sixth rate and almost two and a half more firepower per cannon. it's even stronger then the 5th rate Flagship though the crew of the flagship is much more experienced.
A small French trading fleet has been sunk in the Oost indies. The fleet has been replaces by a larger Dutch trading fleet.
1709
The Elsas is again under Dutch control. The citizens let the Dutch walk in unnoposed.
Another small French raiding party has been destroyed. They ventured too close to Gent where they were caught in a crossfire. None survived the onlslaught.
A small army has been posted in Nancy to prevent any French army's to enter the Elsas unnoticed.
The recruitment in Paramaribo is going as planned. So far 240 soldiers have been recruited and another 160 are being trained at the moment. a few units of dragoons will be next and then Cayenne will fall.
In Amsterdam a few Sakers have been orderd. They will be used to strenghten the defences at brussel.
War has broken out between Zweden and the Verenigde Provincies. They were raiding an important English trading route. The fleet has been sunk and the Europes vloot has returned to it's duty blocing Le havre.
A cunning plan has been made by Philips Hendriks one of the new ministers van Defensie. The most important road from Parijs to Amsterdam is close to the French fort Maubeuge. If Dutch forces could capture it they could prevent any army from Frankrijk to march from Parijs to Amsterdam while it would provide a good staging ground to start an assault ot siege of Parijs which is heavily guarded.

Several technology's have been given to Oostenrijk to aid them in their struggle against Zweden
It has been very quit at the French-Dutch border. Due to the Blockade of le Havre the French economy has been hit like no other economy's in the entire world. The Dutch invasion Frans guyana has started. Jozua Ganesvoort, the Dutch general in the area is delighted. The town of Cayenne has no garrison whatsoever. The siege will begin soon and the victory will be for the Dutch.
After the Fransen have been whiped from Zuid-Amerika De Verenigde provincies wil start on the destruction of the pirates. though the Koninklijke Marine can't beat them at sea De Landmacht can surely take out thei strongholds and once they can't dock to resuply they will be at the mercy of all other country's in the area.
De Stadhouder has also started on a Alliance between Portugal and De Verinigde Provincies. This will make sure that the Spanish will have their hands full.

Frans Guyana has been captured. The invading army suffers a few casualties due to an ambush but the have already been replaced. Once the new conscripts will come in the army can move on towards the pirate base in Trinibad and Tobago. So far the Pirates only have 2 bases so it won't be so hard to take all of them out. After that the plan is to move further up the coast into Spanish territories. Once De Verenigde Provincies have a firm foothold here the Invasion of the Indies can begin.
The main invasion of Frankrijk has been posponed until all the Franse colony's are firmly under Dutch control. this will make the Invasion much easier for the French army will be diminished to a minimal army.
While one brig is set to keep blockading Le Havre, De Eerste nationale Vloot has set out to destroy a Spaanse fleet that is raiding one of the trading routes. These are very important due to the massive upkeep costs there have to be paid for Het Eerste Koloniale Leger.
While De Eerste nationale Vloot was chasing the Spaanse Fleet a cowardly Franse fleet has sunk the Nederlands Brig that was guarding Le Havre. The Franse cowards attacked with 3 5th rates. After they attacked they sailed on towards Rotterdam. They blockaded the port and thus a massive shortage was born. The Verenigde Provincies are now bankrupt!
An emergency plan was set in motion to save the economy. The fleet was immediatly pulled back towards Rotterdam and taxes have been raised.
There is good new also though. Het Galjoen the Santa Cruz has been captured during battle with De Spanjaarden. It is in relatively good shape and it also has packs a good punch. it will make a fine replacement for the Nederlandse Brig.

The Eerste Amerikaans Vloot has been send to Demerara in Nederlands Guyana to pick up the Eerste Amerikaans Leger. They have replaces their casualties and are headed towards San José de Oruna to whipe out the Pirates that are holding up there.
Meanwhile a School has been orderd in Kralendijk on Paramaribo to ensure future technological growth.
The Nationale Eerste Vloot is still sailing towards Antwerpen where it will be repaired and sned to Le Havre again to re-establish the blockade. The Nederlandse Marine is falling behind on Technological aspects The Kralendijkse Universiteit should focus on Naval technolgy's only for the Marine is the pride of the Nederlanden
The Economy has been stabilized a bit. The Income is growing again and has already exceded 3000 Guldens, though the harbour at Rotterdam is very damaged.
Once funds become available and the Pirate city has been taken, a small navy will be raised in the Americas to destroy the pirate fleet that is raiding one of our trading routes.
A French army has been crushed by the Dutch superiour forces. They vetured to close towards Gent.
The Amerikaans Eerste Leger has boarded the Amerikaanse Eerste Vloot. They are currently waiting until good tide and weather to sail towards San José.
Another 4000 guldens have been pumped into the Economy. Due to the economical crisis the government should invest a lot so the country will become stronger while all other countrys are more focused on saving their money and building large army's.

A new government has been seated. The most prominent members are the Stadhouder, Huub Gravesande, who is exceptionally skilled, Minsiter-President, pier de Winter, who is seen as the Next Stadhouder and Hendrick Rijkers responsible for the Amerika's who has been awarded with six stars by the opossition.
The nationale Eerste Vloot is being expnaded with another Sixth Rate ship.
San José has fallen. Now The Verenigde Provinciën have a Shipyard in the Amerika's. It will now be only a matter of time before Antigua also falls and the Koninklijk Marine is once again one of the strongest in the world.
Research has started on Naval technology's.
A peace treaty has been signed by Zweden. The war was not going anywhere for the Zweden have no navy whatsoever and there are several nations between the lan army's. Hopefully the Dutch can someday help them eradictae the Dened from europe. The Stadhouder has gotten the idea to take Ijsland from the Denen. It might be just a small desolate Island but it is also far away from most enemy fleets. it would be a great position for a Naval base.

Maybe a screen from tabs but not from battles (Auto resolved) or the campaign map becuase I have a problem with the skins on it so they are all black.
