    Default A Question Regarding Cavalry...

    Hello, i was wondering how i could add the "dismount" ability to a cavalry unit? i want to make it so the camel gunner units can dismount but I'm not sure how to do it. Also, are there any tools i would need to do it or can i just do it using the files?

    I described the process in this post: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...07#post4701107

    Things changed a bit for 1.9.
    Use pack manager to open patch.pack and then unit_stats_land.
    If you scroll right on the db editor, you see "Can Dismount." Check this for your unit.
    Then, go a bit left to the fourth and the third "unknowns" left of "Can Throw Grenades" and fill in values for those. You can use dragoon's numbers for reference if you need to.
    Save and test.

    Ok, i managed to get them to dismount, however when they're dismounted you can't see their matchlock muskets... and when they stop moving sometimes they play the animation like they're on a camel, so they look like they're riding invisible camels, until i give them a move or fire order again then they're standing on the ground. Any ideas?

    Not sure if i made this clear but basically, their musket is visible when mounted, but when they dismount, its invisible.

    It does not have an animation for walking.

    It sounds like they don't have animation for standing idle.
    The only thing I can think of is to try changing their Combat Type in "unit_stats_land" from "rider_camel" to "rider_musket_sabre". This is the behaviour type for dragoons, so it should have animations for both on mount and on foot.

    OK, thanks for that, does anybody have any ideas on how to fix the invisible matchlocks?

    You may want to try changing their "Warscape Equipment Theme" from "x_east_cavalry_musket_sabre" to "x_euro_cavalry_musket_sabre".
    If that doesn't work, you may also want to try changing Projectile IDRef 1 from "musket" to "carbine".

    hey, thanks, i did what you said above, and they stand on top of the camels when they ride em. changing them to rider_musket_sabre seemed to fix the invisible matchlock thing though

    Hmm, would changing their Horse IDref 1 2 or 3 possibly make it so they don't stand on their camels?

    Edit: I just changed all the Horse IDrefs to match that of dragoons. they're obviously not on camels anymore but i don't notice any animation problems.

    Thanks for all the help guys, they work just fine now except, i noticed that the officer when firing his pistol, his pistol is invisible and so is his sword.

    lol, endless tide of obstacles on your path to glorious success!
    You're best off going to battle_personalities in patch.pack, scrolling down to "test_camel_officer" and then changing Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef from "x_camel_sword_pistol" to "x_euro_sword_pistol".

    I have just one more question, if it's not too much trouble =P. I was wondering if it's possible to have them ride camels with proper animations (eg they don't ride the camels standing up)? Because currently they're riding horses. If it's too much trouble, I'm fine with them riding horses.

    Heh, that fixed his invisible pistol, but his sword is still invisible. Ah well. Thanks for the help Earnest.

    You're welcome! I'm only sorry I couldn't help you with the rest.
    You could probably list what you did, so that others can help you or make camel gunners dismountable themselves without having to go through all that you did.

    Hmm, since i cant seem to get the officer to use correct animations, i just got rid of the officer, but in the menu before the battle, it said the unit had 22.5 soldiers in it.... I'm assuming maybe i had to delete his horse too?
