Because they are apparently parade marches. Would't fit the battlefield too well, methinks.

@Achillon - Soon, I'm due for surgery on thursday so there will be no updates for about a week. I'm currently working on a march for Sweden. I'll definately do russia after Sweden!

@Blucher - Check my Hohenfriedberger Pack. I re-wrote the song in Drum & Fife, I have a vid of it here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF_y-6hWMrQ

That's probably true.. And it makes sense indeed. Nevertheless, I just can't help but imagine how cool it must sound to have Prussian troops marching to a Fife and Drum version of Preussens Gloria..

Superb work on the Marching Themes Hollowfaith.

Wonder what happens if each one of those themes (emp_cus_snare_march_01_v1.00_gme.wav, emp_cus_snare_march_02_v1.00_gme.wav, emp_cus_snare_march_03_v1.00_gme.wav and emp_cus_snare_march_04_v1.00_gme.wav) included is different.

Will they play a random one chosen from these 4?

Any new updates ( fixes ) with this sound mod? I really love the music, but would be great if in one battle troops would play one song - as somebody said when 6 squads marching - 5 different songs is not verry good. Also happened to me, that in melee when i was fighting song was still playing - 2 squads on map ( my and enemy ) both were fighting ni melee and marching song was playing.

But anyway excelent work, just improve, fix this small things and wil lbe perfect.

And last thing - i would still change rifles to sound better, harder, something just great.

Yes. I only changed one and it's seemed to be random.

    Thanks guys!
Back from the hospital, i'm sorry but theres going to be a little extra delay of a day or 2 until I can really work on the mod again. the meds they put me on make me feel kind of woozy if I situp for to long. Never fear, I'll be back with updates and the files all converted to the new patch format. THanks!

Any chance of some bagpipes in the future for the highlanders?

I've already used this one played on youtube during battles:

Well, admittedly kind of awesome, even though not so authentic.

    @Hollowfaith: Well, sounds nice.
    Makes me think of Waterloo.

However, I prefer the alternative version.

Hmm, I don't think your link for the generic drums leads to the right file... I downloaded something called new units patch...

@Jingle Bombs - I updated the mod, check my first post in this thread for the links. The mod is now in patch pack format! Makes installing and removing the mod files MUCH easier! No more fiddling with your original files, install instructions are in the mod packs. Enjoy!

@el Diablo - sure are! I'm going to be doing the field music for all factions! The only problem I'm running into now is trying to find some kind of Sheet Music to recreate the marches. So far I have been unlucky in finding ANY Sheet music for Sweden. I could just grab a link and record the audio and edit it, but thats just taking the easy way! I won't forget any faction!

My current work is doing "Yankee Doodle" for the US. I just need to re-record a few parts and it should be released by monday or tuesday next week! I have a video of it on my first post.

Since you just mentioned sheet music, Hollowfaith, how about this then? There are (as far as I know) no recordings of Dutch military music in fife and drum or anything close to it, but I did manage to find this website, that has a .zip file, with several files in them, that you need to open with the free program 'NoteWorthy Composer'. You'll then get the music played in a midi like format, with the sheet music!

It's probably not the best solution, but hey; I guess it's the only way to get Dutch music into the game..

My personal favorites are 'Mars van de Heer van der Duyn', which is my absolute favorite and 'Mars van de Staten van Holland'.

Mars van de Heer van der Duyn has also been included in my post on the first page, in the spoiler, in a slightly different version (more instrumental). Maybe they can both be of help to you..

Keep up the good work! And here's to hoping that the modding community will quickly discover a way to add custom music! From what I can tell, it's already possible to make individual models / textures for different officers and drummers for different types of regiments, so I don't think adding marches should be too difficult..

EDIT: Oh, and if you want, I can send you the .mp3 file of the 'Mars van de Heer van der Duyn' that I used to make the YouTube video..

@jarnomiedema - THANK YOU! Those file links will prove most useful! I prefer to make and play my own instead of using midi files, but the Sheet notation alone makes this a most worthy download!

The models and stuff is also great news mate! Can't wait to see drum and fife players marching along with the rest of the regiment! Now if the experts could figure out how to move the models of regiments around, like move the officer off to the side, and put the drum and fifer's at the back we'd be in some serious business!

Also if you'd like, send me the mp3 as well!

EDIT: Your Simcity4 vids are sick! Some excellent work there my friend!

    THX Hollow!

its so a superidea with ur march-songs- i like it really!

i hope really that CA will notice ur special engagement and offer their help to make factions marches possible

thx and try to get help from them- u are in the official-forum i see- try it!

its too good the idea with special faction marches.

generally what i miss is that i cant hear the enemie marches or orders. this could be nice. but that is not ur fault.
