Default Installing FRRE mods with R:TW gold on steam?

I am having trouble getting the First Triumvirate mod to work with steam as when I click on the executable it tells me it can't find steam.

Has anyone gotten this to work?

I do not have steam either.

And until ETW is not CTD-free and shows some modding possibilities, I am not buying it. In the meantime, it might drop its price.

I think they intended to make ETW hard to mod because of steam.

Not at all : Steam has been choosen for multiplayer platform and system updates online.

However, I regret this choice too.

I don't have the Steam version, but you can check if one of these solutions makes sense for 58bc and 77bc:

For The First Triumvirate, it gets a little more tricky. First, launch the provided exe for whichever campaign you want to play. This will copy the necessary files into the appropriate folders EVEN THOUGH it results in an error when the game tries to start. Then launch RTW from Steam with "-mod:The_First_Triumvirate -nm -show_err" in the launch options. That should work as far as my understanding of Steam goes.

Could you please tell if Stuie's suggestion is what needs to be done? Or is there any other process that works?

    This is what I did.

When installing the game you install it into:

    C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold

Then once the process is complete you go into steam where it will show the list of games. Rome Total War Gold will be listed you then do the following:

    1) Right click on RTW: Gold icon.
    2) Click on set launch options
    3) Then add into the option: -show_err -nm -mod:77bc or -show_err -nm -mod:58bc or -show_err -nm -mod:The_First_Triumvirate - Important Note: *PICK ONE OF COURSE, PICK THE MOD YOU WANT TO PLAY*

    4) Done! You then click on the icon it will ask you to start either RTW Gold or Barbarian Invasion, click on Barbarian invasion.
    5) Play

Thats the steps I did to get it to work. Depending on the mod you want to play at the time you have to put in the new command line in the launch options. 77bc mod works the best, I find the other two mods although very fun suffer from too many bugs and crashes.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. +rep!

58BC suffers crashes? Not many have ever been reported, to be sincere...
