In Previous version we were able to swap out the music and put in Braveheart or Gladiator soundtracks and it is something I really miss, I was hoping theres a way to do that here for empires?

You can, but you need to use the "Pack File Manager" found here (courtesy of LtChambers)
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234546
Open the "sounds_music.pack" in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\data"
with the Pack File Manager and you will see this.
Lets say you want to replace "music\land\ mus058_battle_western_orc_[loop].mp3"
with the theme from lets say "Master and Commander"
You first have to rename the "Master and Commander" song to (in this case)
"music\land\ mus058_battle_western_orc_[loop].mp3"
Right Click on the song you want to change in the Pack Manager.
Set it to "patch" in "Change Pack Type", then hit "Replace File".
Browse for your renamed "Master and Commander" tune and hit open.
Save the changes.
Done!.
Oh, and don't forget to back up.

Thank you so much I really loved being able to place my own songs in game
It really amazes me that, this time period being a golden age for classical music (especially the RTI period), they didn't put it in some really good symphony music, at least for the campaign map. There is a time when as a developer you must rely on getting your own composers...this wasn't one of them - Beethoven and Mozart are very angry with CA!
I can see myself putting Overture 1812 in there...
(if only I had the version with the cannons firing as well)
has anybody done a music pack with master and commander?
Is it possible to change this music without installing Steam? I really dont want to add the steam package in if I don't have to.
