A few questions from a new player

Hi,

Fist of all, does anyone know if M&B uses DirectSound3D and therefore Creative Alchemy should be used?

Also - I saw somewhere the mention of a mod for having 1000 units max per battle rather than 100. I assume this is something I might as well start with from the beginning. Any other must-have mods that I should use from day 1? Like a textures mod or something basic like that?

Otherwise I will just add the one mentioned (unless others advise against) and play native for a while.

Other advice to a newbie is more than welcome. Looking forward to giving this a try.

Edit: I was just looking at WolfTone's thread and found a lot of good starter info in there. So my main question is about Alchemy. Use it or no?

I don't know about Alchemy. Isn't that a Vista thing (I use XP)?

Changing battle size to more than the usual 100 to 1000 can be done by using Battle Size Changer:

(It installs itself, and is pretty self explanatory. Remember to run the game at least once before installing it)

I wouldn't say there are any mods you must have, but you mention graphical enhancements.

Thanks Adorno1 - I have been playing now for a week or so, with the Punkt and GE mods, as well as the battle size changer.

What a great time this game is. So happy I started playing, now I can't stop. Been building up my skills and my army, finally decided to help the rebels take Rhodoks and today just took my first castle. Tough road ahead, I think.
