Icon7 If you hate all those pesky adds when you start your game...

In case someone is like me and HATES all those little pesky and annoying adds and other videos every time you start up your game, this is for you. I hate them, in every game, and if there's a way to remove them, I will. The intro is a nice one, but after I have seen it many, many times, it just slows down the start of the game, so might as well remove it too.

Using the new extremely handy and easy to use Pack File Manager 1.3 program by LtChambers (see below for link) I was finally able to get rid of them all. So doing what I did ( again, see below), when you first start your game you will only get the first Total War screen, and then after its done loading, you will jump directly to the game menu itself. Faster I believe, and no more hitting ESC key over and over again.

    1) Download and start the Pack File Manager 1.3 utility by LtChambers
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234546

    2) File Menu - Open File - movies.pack

    3) Choose a Pack Action Menu - Change Pack Type - Movies

    4) Click the [+'] sign in front of movies.pack in the list, and then the [+] sign in front of movies to see everything inside the pack file

    5) Select the file 'ca.bik', then choose delete from the Choose a Pack Action menu. The 'ca.bik' file should now be grayed out

    6) Select the file 'corei7_intro.bik', then choose delete from the Choose a Pack Action menu. The 'corei7_intro.bik' file should now be grayed out

    7) Select the file 'game_intro_01.bik', then choose delete from the Choose a Pack Action menu. The 'game_intro_01.bik' file should now be grayed out

    8) Select the file 'sega_logo_sting_hd.bik', then choose delete from the Choose a Pack Action menu. The 'sega_logo_sting_hd.bik' file should now be grayed out

    9) File Menu - Save As - movies1.pack

    10) Close the Pack File Manager 1.3 program

    11) Go to the games data folder and move your original movies.pack file somewhere else
(I usually just make a new sub folder right there in the data folder and name it 'Original Files'. This way I have all the original files right there close by incase I need them later on)

    12) Rename your newly saved movies1.pack to movies.pack

    13) Enjoy an add and intro free startup of the game.

P.S. A big Thank You to LtChambers for his excellent Pack File Manager 1.3!

Well it uses the .bik files right? if so it should be possible to just delete those files like in Paradox Games... There are none outside of the pack?

All the video files are inside the movies.pack file. If you unpack this file, no movies will work. So if you do you would loose all in game movies as well as the startup ones. So not really an option.

Game must be coded to look inside the movies.pack file and it has to be present for the movies to work. Not like the main.pack which you can unpack and then delete. So the only option I saw, was to delete the non wanted movie files from inside the movies.pack file and leave the rest there. Works like a charm too.

The game loads faster too. I hate that they don't give you an option to skip these after the first startup of the game. It's just bad manners.

It's nice NOT to have to keep hitting escape over and over again every time you start the game and you don't have to wait for the videos to start or anything so definitely a little less time spent before you are actually in the game menu.

Well I think CA logo is OK, but I don't like SEGA logo. It feels just like arcade game in theatre...doesn't give pretty convincing picture about the game.

CA you have done a great job so far, keep up the good work!!

Why there is no German-Axis FPS game?
Thank You for the rep+ given!

Then all you have to do is to leave the ca.bik and delete the rest.

Tusen Tack, Tassen! I was thinking of figuring this out myself later but you just saved me the time! Fantastic tutorial! Just followed your info, tested and works 100%. Oh and of course, rep for you.

Exactly what I've been looking for. I could care less for the startup adds and intro. Once was enough, lol. Thanks for posting how.

Glad to be of service and that it worked for you guys too. I was very excited myself when it worked. I hate it when they stick adds in my game.

Hehe, SEGA logo reminds me of playing Sonic 2 on the mega drive/genesis. Anyone remember that awesome weird voice going SEEEEGAAAAAA!?

-- You could probably set your .pack file to boot, or jsut leave it as is? Seeing as it would be loaded first anyway.
