It shouldn't be too hard for them to do. In M2TW you can enable full detail on all units at all ranges.

M2TW never had an option to "enable full detail on all units at all ranges"... as soon as I got my new computer I used M2TW to test it out on Full Ultra... with everything maxed and guess what...

    you still get sprites

On another note, for those who have noticed a difference... did you originally have everything on Ultra??? Or... for those who have everything on Ultra, did you notice a difference after the mod?

Yes it did, but after the first demo they removed the highest setting from the ingame options. You had to edit the preferences.ini and set unit detail to "highest" instead of "higher", and tada, full detail on all units on the battlefield.

not sure about M2TW but in RTW you can remove the use of sprites by setting unit detail to very high...

it isnt... or at least after a month or two of playing i have noticed that the sprites still are pretty wack!

this might seem a little counter-productive to your cause but is there a way to
make so that the trees are permenant 2d sprites?

wondering if there is any new news on this mod... or anyother mods that eliminate sprites...

not much has been said since this one started, but on patch 1.3, I feel the sprites are now more visible... meaning this mod may not have transfered over

Yes I agree with Ragga, sprites got worse recently.

Re: M2TW, sure it had sprites but they were beautiful compared to those paper dolls in ETW. I never had a problem with the sprites of M2 (except for the dead cavalry sprites... at a distance you could see the man standing over his dead horse. Spooky!

could be our imagination but I agree that it seems like sprites got worse. Does it matter if this mod file is in patch or mod form? I have it in mod form but maybe its supposed to be in patch form.

In M2TW it looks like this:

    56 unit_models/Mounts/Heavy_Horse/rus_heavy_horse_lod0.mesh 500
    56 unit_models/Mounts/Heavy_Horse/rus_heavy_horse_lod0.mesh 5000
    56 unit_models/Mounts/Heavy_Horse/rus_heavy_horse_lod0.mesh 10000

The numbers define how long you see a meh if you zoom out. If you want to see the ...lod0.mesh longer, you change the number to 3000.

Surely there is a file with this lines somewhere in Empire.

Just an idea: is the pack a patch file or a mod?

I looked at it and found this:

    euro_hussars_LOD1.mesh 5
    euro_hussars_LOD2.mesh 10
    euro_hussars_LOD3.mesh 15
    euro_hussars_LOD4.mesh 0

I'm sure this number have something to do with the view. Looks like meters. EDIT: Can't be meters, cause my pc change at max 2m from lod1 to lod2.

EDIT2: Maybe I'm wrong. I know only it change the textures, but are the textures copled with lod in empire? Sure, but how? My old pc use the 3rd texture and lower. My new use the 1st and lower, but surely both use lod1.

I tried to change min the numbers (5 -> 10), but don't see any changes. Maybe I have to change to 15, 30, 50, 0. I play all on ultra, so changes are not extremly.

Can someone with a low end pc test my thought please?

Test: Very simple. Write on faces numbers. On highest 1, on good 2 aso. Go ingame and look when they are show. Change the numbers I worte up about and test again.

Yeah, I look at it at weekend too again.

My Cooler is at the moment very loud, so I have to look for a better setting. I've see cool & quiet on my asus cd. Did you think it could steering the cooler better. At the moment it's run on full ingame.

bump and begging for 1.5 compatibility.
i've found 3 config files in the path the original modder mentioned, i've exported them and am uploading them in the hopes that someone will know how to config them so that LOD is improved, these are tables not meshes.
it's in mod format, but i don't know if it's meant to be in mod or patch format, i don't know anything about modding e:tw. please someone pity me and take a look
