well from what ive seen it doesnt get rid of the sprites but it increases the distance at which the sprites occur. at least i think im seeing that or maybe it hasnt made a difference at all. not too sure really. fps hasnt been effected on my medium-high pc - e5200, 4 gig ddr2 ram, 4850 512mb.

I'm pretty sure too the distance before the sprites occur has increased. No decrease in FPS for me either. Will have to check some more tomorrow but so far it looks like it is worth installing it.

I have everything on ultra and units multiplied to 1.5 and experienced
zero performance loss. Some units in formations still switch to lod4 sooner than others, but only like 1/4 max, bad lod4.

Did you try it at lod2?

So I got curious, I am exploring all the pack files, I got bored and after I found some way to change some values for the AI I thought this would also be interesting.

Did you replace all the lod4s with lod3s (Simple copy?) I really would like to do this on buildings and hedges.

    Hi all,

I ve put the file in /data repertory, but in game i didnt see major difference. Sprits still appear middle-closely. All of my graphic option are set on ultra. What's wrong ? I've made a mistake in the installation ??? Thx !

My units are set to medium. I prefer this unit size when playing.

You did unpack the file first, didn't you? (just making sure) :hmmm:

So ive did it with barbarian way >

    - Unpack model.pack
    - Unpack lod4.pack (this mod)
    - Replace lod4 files in the "unitmodel" repertory of the model.pack unpacked
    - Repack the model.pack (quite long 5go)
    - Enjoy !

even if he did upack it the game uses pack files first. i think ill just do what he did repalce the files in the models.pack with the ones in this mod using that pack manager.

Ummm...I meant unpack it from the .7z file archive since it comes in one of those, not unpack the pack file itself.

Thank you SO MUCH for this!
I asked this forum around once if someone could make this and no one responded, I'm really glad you made this!
    No more 2D armies, finally.

    + Virtual Karma for you

    EDIT:
So, can someone make a real Step By Step guide on how to do this?
I'm not getting it to work!

I would like a step by step guide too.

    Going to try this tonight.

I think my plan will be to first have to copy the orignal empire folder and then unpack all the packs and then delete the packs. Then start the changes. Would this work?

I was also wondering would it be possible to play the game if I create lets say a Empire2 folder with my changes and still keep the original folder for steam and updates?
