Can't get peace

I'm currently playing as france and i have the italian states backed into a corner. However, Id like to make a peace treaty or have them become a protectorate so they dont get wiped off from the game. I have two full stacks besieging rome and turn after turn they deny my requests, even when i offer them rediculous sums of money in return. is there something i can do to make them become peaceful again, so they arent wiped from the game?

or if i take rome and let them rebel, will they come back?

I have noticed that the AI is really stupid some times. They wanted to get Trinidad off me, so they offered, 1 technology, and wanted ME to pay THEM 900 for taking it off their hands.....

I don't see why you'd complain about the AI not making peace. Have the previous few TW games taught you nothing?

Here's the TW pattern since Rome for those who haven't picked up on it yet:
- A TW game is released; the AI sucks.
- People complain about the AI, buy game anyway because of the graphics.
- CA trumpets better AI as a major feature of the next TW game.
- A TW game is released...

yea, i was playing as the USA, and i was at war with the UK. Every turn they demanded that i give them maine and 2500 dollars. They didnt even offer peace, it is pathetic.

If you are to aggresive in the game it gets very difficult to get peace
because of the negative rating you get at other factions.

As Britain I went to war with Prussia very early, like 1702. Even though they only had East Prussia, were weak and desolate, and I could have easily have defeated them completely at any time, they would never accept a Peace Offer.
After offering to settle our war many, many times with gratuitous sums, I finally sent a stack to destroy them around 1745. 43 years of war...they sure held a grudge.

As britain, france kept asking for iroqouis territory for lower lousiana , ever turn, they came with that offer, with different offers in terms of reserch/money, quite annoyed me.

And on topic, you can get peace by ANYONE, just offer them like 5000 gold extra, i had a massive war with france, captured there colonies in america, and offered them piece and some money, and they accepted it, was pretty funny, did that a few times.

Not really, in a game as Spain I'm at war with Russia, Poland, Austria and Prussia. No fighting has ever taken place between us, but all four nations adamantly refuse any peace treaty. I even offered 50000 gold at one time for peace. But no, no no. No peace.

Utterly ridiculous.

Sweden Continuously asks me for Mysore in India. Every turn it pops up, they give me 3 techs, I give them Mysore and 1000 gold.

Mysore alone nets me 10k. I have to laugh at the stupidity. Their nation is weak and their treasury is the lowest it can get, but they think I would give them the advantage of Mysore... so right now I am at war with them for not leaving me alone and asking for the province. They have one territory left.

Yeah some nations will fight to the bitter end. some will sue for peace after you beat one of their armies once without even wiping it out.

Also the countries trying to buy regions of you should only be allowed to be sent once every 5 years or something. Would make it far less annoying.

I don't have this problem playing VH/VH i notice every nation ask for peace(not those natives) after i take a region away from them.
