    Default Buildings on the battlefield?

I'm starting to think i'm not using the building correctly?

If i have one unit in a building defending it the enemy can charge me.. get in the building and just rape me.

so my question is this. should the building be manned and then have one unit outside guarding it's entrance? If so:

does the fire coming from the building do enough to justify protecting it with a full unit out in the open?

Most of the time my enemy brings artillery so i prefer to just leave the buildings or maybe just use them as cover while advancing my troops.

I just sit back and hope the enemy takes the houses as my arty will get an easy kill. Or if i dont feel like waiting then I will charge a unit in and generally take less casualties than if i had my unit go toe to toe with the enemy on an open field.

Weird, because when I try to take buildings from higher up units I take serious casualties. :hmmm:

I normally don't use buildings but always kill the enemy if they get into one.

I'm thinking of maybe putting skirmishers inside a building and then keeping a small force to ambush the enemy when they attempt to enter it. Don't know how this will work out, we will see.

The enemy can charge you, but he will be really disadvantaged. I mainly use houses to delay the enemy, not to stop him.

When an enemy storms a building containing your rifle/skirmish unit, switch to melee mode immediately. it will most likely hold them off if your defending unit is half decent.
