Trade Routes Question

If I have multiple Indiamen (or other types of trading ships) on a trade resource does that mean I will make more money? Or should I just leave one there?

I believe you make more money with more trading ships there.
What I do is grab them right near the start with normal ships to "hold" them. Then build large fleets of traders and send them down, only replacing the warships claiming them when they are right next to it and guarnteed to make the final movement so no sneaky Prussians get there and put their towels on the sunbeds
