Thread: Oblivion had better graphics than Fallout3

  1. #1

Default Oblivion had better graphics than Fallout3

I think so. Even the faces look kinda more cartoonish in Fallout3 and the body and just in general, it felt more "lifelike" even if it's completely based on fantasy, unlike Fallout 3, which is pretty much based on real stuff, with the guns and Washington DC etc..

I don't know if it has to do with the code or just not optimized correctly, but If I have to turn back the visuals to get an acceptable frame rate and it looks worse, than Oblivion, then there is something wrong. Especially if I can turn up all the visuals in Oblivion and not get a any problems whatsoever.

I had oblivion on PC and Fallout on Xbox; and I still think Fallout is the clear winner here.

I mean, just walking around in Fallout you'll notice that everything looks better. Especially the ground. The Ground in Oblivion looked a bit like pea soup, while it actually passes off for ground in Fallout. The People in Fallout do look stupid tho, especially the purple raiders.

Fallout 3 looked better than Vanilla Oblivion imo, and was better optimized (though I hear that's very dependable on your set-up)
Oblivion with QTP3 and other gfx-mods however looked better than anything available for Fallout last I checked (but given time this could change)
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

The Oblivion graphics are nicer (trees, streams, mountains etc) but the fallout graphics are definitely better.

Well what makes Oblivion likable is no doubt the lighting.
Walking through a forest at daytime was quite a sight to behold.
Not to mention had some lovely colors.
Still Fallout 3 is equal I think, both get the results they were aiming for creating a "realistic" look of the game.

I don't really have a preference. Oblivion is easier on the eyes, but Fallout does gritty well. You know something ironic in playing both games, is that I'd sometimes get startled in Oblivion when attacked while roaming, but in Fallout despite the fact it's post-apocalyptic hellfiends, nothing. Maybe it's the guns. Must be. Click, click, BOOM.

HAHA Oblivion! Oblivion is a cake walk. In Morrowind I would be walking and then BANG! Music comes on. Battle Music. I know somthing is coming. Then a mile away I see this guy screaming, "ITS MY GOLD!"

    That is freaky.

That's because Oblivion is set in a beautiful fantasy land, not a post apocalypse wasteland.

Fallout 3 is superior to Oblivion in my opinion, but I can't help but feel the shadows and lighting in Fallout 3 could do with alot of working. They're incredibly basic compared with a lot of newer stuff in my opinion.

Everything is a lot more 'shiny' in Oblivion while F3 is brown and war-torn.

I really think it's just a matter of taste in pallet.

There is a problem there, from my experience, and alot of others experience, Fallout 3 on max runs better than oblivion on Max. So if FO3 is running crappier on your machine than Oblivion, theres an issue there.
