When I see so many bugs and non-working features in just my first playthrough I do wonder if there was any QA on the game. Features like plug bayonets have been talked about almost since the game was announced and they still can't get that to function.
Overall I'm enjoying the game but the state it was released in is unacceptable. I honestly have never had this many stability problems with a game since the days of Gothic and Hidden & Dangerous.

I bet SEGA forced the release date but then relented when things wheren't obviosuly going to be finished on time, so gave them an extra month. i've worked in the IT industry and it amazes me how management expect a application to be released by a certain date when only allocating small amounts of time for System Testing!! i realise projects need to be done within a budget but if yoiu don't System test properly, you'll be doing more damage than good!

Although In ETW case, i don't care about a polished game .. I JUST WANTED IT! and my rose-coloured glasses cannot see any bugs!

Patch to your hearts content CA!

this is just ridiculous. they can come out with a patch down the road to fix bugs. this is much better this way. if people have problems with bugs then they should just view it as a beta until they get fixed either way playing with bugs is better then not playing.

I've been able to replicate the bug/flaw with 100% success.

No blood, dirt, speeches, unit's all look the same, sea battles though cool looking are comp roflecopter easy, oh and comp lack of unit's also, and theres so much more, it feels more like a Civ game now than total war.

Lets just hope, that modding ETW isn't going to be as hard as they say, cause the amount of suck in this game so far, is monumental.
    Agreed.

That's a timing bug, not a functionality bug...your wording had me thinking you couldn't get the thing working, period.

Have you messed with it to see how long they'll fire? Will it just fire the rest of the line's shots and then lock, or will they go on and reload and keep going until you give a melee order? How long have you let them fire with the bayonet fixed?

There are two kind of customers/fan: those that want the game as soon as possible, even if it is not completely ready, and those that want a full complete product since they are paying a full complete price.

I think there is a way to please both: let the impatient fans buy it now, and for the people that want a complete product wait and buy it as soon as enough patches has been released.

I myself have not bought the game yet. From the demo, the reviews and the comments on the forum it seems to me that there is still a big lack of content (uniforms, blood, etc...) and some bugs. When at least -some- of them will be solved (I don't demand perfection of course) I will buy the game.

best thing CA could do is to provide Modding tools for comunity... that way all bugs and wierd things will be fixed in no time....

They keep firing until i give them a move order. They reload (you can see the guy in the pic doing so) and keep going.
It's not a timing bug though. It is a feature not functioning properly!

I'm just amazed that this didn't come up in playtesting as the method I used: fire, fix bayonet, wait until everyboy's ready before attacking, would seem the most obvious and comon way of doing this.

To me the game is already polished as-is. All that's missing is: Africa, but we can have that added in an expansion or mod; and some unit diversity, which will be solved a few weeks after the mod tools are released.

    I'm a happy camper.

what is missing ? So far i had to say - unit diversity is too small, most of them are carbon copies. Natives are overpowered, and they use western type of combat... which is extemly wierd.... another wierd thing is that bowmen are supperior to light infantry skirmishers....

I would prefer large corporations like SEGA, Vivendi, Activision etc to stay out and stop meddling with Game Studios as they produce their games and let them do what they need to, to produce quality games instead of deeply focusing on graphics and deadlines for release.

That's what i mean by timing bug. The unit isn't registering the plug until the current order is complete or interrupted. Plugging the bayonets as a button changes the model state, but it's not changing the ai state until a new order is issued. Functionally it works, and its a very easy timing/state bug to miss because a lot of people will plug the bayonets and immediately issue a melee attack order, changing the state of the ai.

Perhaps the naysayers should make their own game and show ca how it is done...not a mod mind you..a game from scratch....all of it in its entirety, and see what transpires seeing as you all apparently have the experience and know how enough to say that CA could have done better given their resources.

The game plays great, there is only some minor bugs which are acceptable at this point. Most problems are caused by other things like Steam and unoptimized gpu drivers.
