Thread: Huge problem: This game does not support SLI!

Default Huge problem: This game does not support SLI!

Seriously WTF is this. I was wondering why this game didn't look that amazing but was running like ass. So I decided to download the latest Nvidia drivers. No dice, still ran like ass. So I looked into the 3D management settings and Nvidia has DISABLED SLI for this game. I was like WTF, so I re-enabled it. Launched the game and wham, doesn't even run because of all the flickering and graphics problems. No wonder Nvidia has SLI disabled by default for this game. The only way I can play this game is to disable SLI.

Sega needs to get in gear with this. It's 2009 and this resource hog of a game does not support SLI! Pretty unbelievable and I suspect once the word gets out on this people will be pretty pissed. I think a lot of people with SLI setups are wondering why the game is running so bad and we are just brushing it off to it being a large game, but the truth is one of your video cards is not working!

Hopefully this will be addressed in an upcoming patch.

Supporting SLI isn't generally something that can just be enabled in a patch.

I doubt it's a "switch" they can just flip, but any aspect of the game can be patched and updated/changed.

Yeah, but it will be major. Large portions of code will have to be rewritten to take advantage of it.

It's the same with nearly all games, past and present, the developers are either too lazy, or too stupid, to take advantage of modern technology. Mean while, those of us that actually move with the times are essentially penalised for doing so.

If this is true about empire not supporting SLI then its very poor form on CA's part. Every game i have bought in the last year has SLI support plus most of them having a option in the ingame options. I do not use SLI myself but i be very suprised that a game being released in 09 dont have the option..if so then it is just plain laziness on CA's part.

You're probably right, but if they had enough foresight, they could have left ways in the code to speed up the process. I hope it won't be huge and invasive, but it likely will be.

Thats a pity. I have not bought the game yet. so it looks like an investment in a single massive graphic,s card may be the best option.
I use SLI at the moment, but as my gaming is mainly TW series it now seems like I wasted money.
Good luck with your game. mags

Not sure how "new" SLI is though. I mean it is very common these days.

Hmmm interesting... only certain versions work huh? But not the official latest one on Nvidia's web site???? Someone needs to sort this out.

I think if you update your drivers by removing the old ones first you normally have to re- enable SLI.

I would not say its a huge problem...Most people don't even have SLI..It does not effect the game..only the speed with which it can run on some peoples computers...

I guess its a big deal for Frame rate techies..but for most people its not.

Has anyone experimented with 185.20 beta?

Currently using it, and while i am not 100% happy, it doesn't seem to crash or flicker. I was getting x2 fps with SLI enabled with this driver, so SLI seems to work (however performance still was for gtx260 SLI).

I can confirm that this game does not support SLI with the 182.08 driver, but does with the 181.22 driver. So if you are having problems go back to the old driver. Haven't tried the new beta yet. Thanks so much to the guy who posted this info. SLI makes a huge difference with this game but be careful what driver you are using. If you enable SLI visual indicator and you don't see it while running the game you are NOT running in SLI mode. SLI enabled nearly doubled my frame rate.
