help needed with install

ok here's my problem and it sounds like a few other's are suffering the same trouble.
when i put my disk in to my computer the atuo run does not kick in to play the disk..so i go to (my computer) dvd drive then double click on the game icon...hoping that it will load the installer...no joy!
all it does is open the disk so as i can see the files...
o.k so now i look for the auto run.exe but it's not there BUT what i do see is a silly steam icon with start up writen on it so i double click on it then it try's to take me through an installation but then stop's as it's too busy then when i do get through it try's to download the entire game from steam..the full 15gb????
i have try'd to work around it and all i want to do is install the game..but as i said it wont auto run and i can't find the auto run.exe...
plz does anybody know where im going wrong..???
p.s all of my other games work fine (even my steam ones)

Steam is used to install the game even if you aren't downloading it. There is some advice on how to get around this in the thread that is asking for a sticky. I will get a link in a moment.
