ETW keeps updating and "black" units

Well, my problem is that no matter how many times i download the update next time i start Steam i have to download it again!
Does anyone know why?
And if you do, how can i stop this? Its really annoying cause i have to wait half an hour everytime i want to play

Also i have a problem with some units turning up all black in the battles, mostly the militia units but also some other like the drummer and the solidiers on the ships. (seems like they are missing textures or something)
Anyone has an idea about how to solve this?

I think I had that black textured units problem in Med II. I think someone suggested it was because I had the textures set too high for my GPU and it was running out of RAM to handle all the units, so the textures didn't display. May or may not be the same problem; try going down one texture quality setting and see if that cures it.

clib's texture answer should solve that problem. As far as ETW constantly updating, first make sure it actually finishes when it does it, it might be redownloading because it never got done. After that you can set the game to not automatically update. Go to the games screen in steam, right click on ETW, click properties, updates tab, and change the dropdown box to 'do not automatically update'.

Hmm.. I'd guess that both our downloads has gone wrong for some reason.
Anyone know how we could fix this without having to redownload the 15 gigs?

i had the same problem. The ETW folder was stuck at 13,9 GB and was updating all the time without results. Also, the unit textures was black. I deleted it all and started a new download. Its working perfectly now and the ETW folder is 14.7 GB (15 890 932 471 byte)

Guess ill just leave it on over the night, thanks for the help

Seems like the problem is an unfinished download and steam tries to finish it but of some reason it says that its just updating.

Just for information, i got the whole thing "updated" now, and the folder now says 14,7 gb. I hope everything is fine now

Yeah my folder was at 14.1 GB so I'm updating as well, let's hope this fixes it.

Back again after a couple of hours playing

All went fine after the update and no more "black" units!
