    Icon4 Serious sound problem

I cant here gun firing sounds (rifles, cannons, explosions, etc.) in both land and naval battles. Also the sound of cavalry running is missing, maybe other sounds too. My mother board is AC 97 ALC850 based, i`ve updated it with version 4.06 driver and nothing changed, also installed the directx included - nada
Music and voices are playing well i guess. Please help.

This appears to be a problem with pirated copies of the game. I'm not saying yours is pirated, but this issue is widely reported on the scene, and not so much for legit owners.

    Try reinstalling.

Interesting, as the scene release is the SF edition as well.

Try reinstalling, or diabling your sound card and use on-board.

Problem fixed, but dont know which of the 2 actions that i did actually fixed it:
    1. Enabling 2 sound driver related windows services that i had previously disabled.
    2. Installing the latest directx but from Microsoft`s site. :-)

Before everyone gets crazy with driver installations and what not, try changing the speaker setup in ETW. I had it on 7.1 discrete and I couldn’t hear guns and other stuff. I switched to DirectSound3d and it’s much better.

I had it set to DirectSound3d and I was missing sounds everywhere. I then turned it to Windows Default and I hear everything. I can finally hear he cries of men and cannons from a long way off!! and they sound amazing!!

Windows default worked the best for me.

this is crazy but i've re-install again and now sound is working fine, but i don't know why but i think music is too loud and sfx sounds too low in comparison.

i think sound is the weakest feature on etw compared with the others TW games.
