The other day i picked up a copy of the New Nation (a free british paper) and came across this article:
Well, what does the community have say on this???PREJUDICE TOWARDS immigrants is being whipped up in the election campaign. Tory posters saying immigration is not racist are laughable.
Now we see gypsies being targeted by The Sun and The Daily Mail , as people jump on the tory bandwagon. It looks like Labour will go out of its way to show it is as tough or tougher than the opposition - to its shame.
Substitude 'black' and 'Jew' for 'gypsy' and 'asylum seeker' and the racism is clear for all to see. I won't join the baying mob. If the far right and prejudice win, we all lose.
Immigration contols mean one thing, as that asian tory on Channel 4 refused to admit: the groups kept out - blacks, Asians, Muslims - will be seen as immigrants and foreigners even if they were born in britain.
In the past, Britain exported its undesirables and criminals to other countries, with penal colonies in the US and Australia.
Later, they transported political and religious enemies to colonies. Then they encouraged migration to Kenya, South Africa and Rhodesia, installing segregation and apartheid at the same time.
On that programme, why didn't* they remind everyone that the problem was cuased by past actions.
Thoughts and opinions please!
