Icon7 How to put Custom Battles on using a Mod Switch

I did this on RTW 1.5
First if you do not know what a mod switch is look at this website
    http://rtw.heavengames.com/rtw/mods/...ne/index.shtml
    http://rtw.heavengames.com/rtw/mods/...ch/index.shtml
this should help cover what a mod switch is.

Mainly what I found out that with a mod switch it is still possible to get custom battles working. To do this follow the instructions:

1)Set up mod switch drectory using sites

    2) When you have your new directory set up with the mod switch, copy all the files from:
    The Creative Assembly(gold edition directory)\Rome - Total War\data\world
in your mod switch directory into the sub folders data\world

    Custom Battles should now work

    3) (Does not need to be done but is advised) Delete all files that are not needed in mod switch directory (Delete files in brackets)
    this includes:
    data\world\(battle,template,town_layout,town_layout_old,template_backup,forest_layout).txt

data\world\maps(battle,custom,tutorials) (all folders named for this one)

data\world\maps\campaign(sons_of_mars) (you don't have to if you want to keep this feature for your mod)

data\world\maps\base(delete everything in here except map.rwm)

data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign(delete everything except descr_strat) (you don't have to if you want to keep this feature for your mod)

Custom Battles should still be working the same as ever just got rid of all of that clutter in the folder which may bring problems to some modders when modding, I don't really know.

    4) (Optional) You can copy the file export_descr_unit from
    The Creative Assembly(gold edition directory)\Rome - Total War\data
into your mod switch directory data folder

This allows you to edit formations, stats such as hit points etc.

If I missed anything out or made a mistake pls say, or if for some reason it is not working pls say.

Here is link to my thread for my new in development mod Macedonia:

Thats all I can say about custom battles for now.

Default Re: How to put Custom Battles on using a Mod Switch

    Thanks for this tutorial!

I was able to use this successfully with my 1.5 RTW vanilla based mod when I utilize the RTW.exe to run the mod. However, when I try to run my mod with the RTW-BI.exe in order to enable night battles it will not allow me to do custom battles even when following the guidance in your tutorial. Is this just not possible or is there a trick that must be done to enable this?
