    Great tutorial but where can I download 3dmax?

    Hey thanx for the post looks helpful. I was thinking for my 1st mod to get billmen to drag riders off their horses. Or if that's a little difficult create Chinese and Korean mecernaries for the Mongols..

    GIMP is a (free) program that is capable of editing .tga/.dds files (files needed for skins)

    Vercingetorix pak extractor is for showing the "hidden" UI elements (skins , symbols , ..)

    And yes , 3dsmax is 3-4 grant , but you can try a trial version of 30 days , or you could download milkshape or Gmax

    What does UI stand for? Sorry I'm taking it 1 step at a time

    So you have 30 days to finish your mod? I wish there was a one bit of software does everything type situation. I hear people have to use Photoshop as well. That's quite a few packages for just changing graphics..

    UI = User Interface

    Well , Photoshop or GIMP are both programs of editing skins etc. , although GIMP is free .. i made a topic about it , check it out here

    3ds max is only needed for edting models , wich is a difficult aspect of modding .. Actually , it depends on what you want to do ..

    For my 1st mod I'd like to animate a bill man dragging horsemen of their horse. Or create Chinese or Korean units for the Mongols in MTW2..

    Thanks for the link. All help appreciated

    dragging horsemen of their horse ? Not possible i think with the M2TW engine

    As for the other thing : Just take a mongol unit and reskin him a bit so he looks like a korean unit

    Well that's that one down the drain and probably won't be the last

    Thanks I'll probably download GIMPS then and maybe have a look at 3dmax. Thanks for the advice

    No problem.. So if I was starting off with say a Korean infantry unit. What would I need?

    Just GIMP and Vercingetorix?

    You need 3d max (30 trial) or Gmax (free) or milkshape (free) and for texture you need Photoshop (trial) or gimp (free and very good)...
