    Default CTD

    Hello,

    Whenever I try to start a battle with a signifigant amount of soldiers, the game always CTDs. It doesn't really give me a specific error message, it just says 'Medieval II has encountered an unspecified error and will now exit'. I've already tried reinstalling the game, but that doesn't seem to work. The only submod I use is SSTC 1.2.

    Try reinstalling SS again over the top of your current installation (i.e. without uninstalling first). Sometimes the installer can skip some files and this can fix it.

    Or the problem might be that your graphics card or CPU can't handle too many troops on screen at a time.

    (Even with an E8400 and an HD 4850 my system crashed when playing on large unit size when there were several armies involved in a battle.)

    Try changing the .cfg file - this from the expanded FAQ's:

    I solved the problem though by editing the config file. Simply I stopped unlimited units on battlefield viz:

    open the stainless steel .cfg file

    and find:

    [game]
    unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 1
    event_cutscenes = 1

    and change it to:

    [game]
    unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 0
    event_cutscenes = 1

    and then save the .cfg file back from whence it came
