    - have to apply proper stat_pri and stat_sec values to 30-40 units.

    - apply proper mount_effect to all Aper's spear wielding units.

    - apply proper attributes to all Aper's units.

    - apply proper ground values from PI II EDU that I've made quite some time ago to all units.
Your people are longing for you to lead us to the true EDU faith!

He he he, you guys are..., well great!

Naimad came out with a very nice idea about ground values:

Just a thought.. wont it be easiest to use them the opposite?

I mean instead of improving units performance for being at X terrain, why not decrease the performance of units that cannot fight on those terrains?

Why someone could fight better with snow than without it? i cant see the reason for that.., but the opposite is diferent, i cant fight the same at snow, but someone that is adapted to it can fight the same.

I hope i made my point clear enough..
So what he is saying is that we only give minus values to units not adapted to fight on certain terrain. While this is superb idea it would postpone the release of the EDU I'm working on. For now ground values stay as I designed them for PI II. Later on his preposition might be implemented - if I'll have time that is.

Now on to finish the EDU bible already...

I thought bonuses had to be positive? In any case, there are fewer units good in snow than units bad in snow, and the relative strength is what matters, so I'd leave it as you've coded it since that's simpler to implement. Don't think of it as improved performance on snow, think of it as a penalty for being on smooth warm ground that is the baseline for the engine. Lack of tracking skills, heat exhaustion, etc.

Nope, ground values can range from -8 to +8 but I decided for a maximum of -3/+3 to not make an unbalancing thingy. Naimad's suggestion is more logical Pode. Heat exhaustion is simulated in separate value also present in the EDU. For now I am leaving -3/+3 system but might change it eventually.

Am in the process of applying those two things - I currently reached Galli. A long way still to go.

In my senior year design classes at uni we used to say we'd get all the sleep we needed when we were dead

Get some well earned rest, man. One more day waiting at the foot of the mountain won't kill us.

Not for Sabine faction units, they just died horribly at my hand. Speaking of dying horribly a few turns in, it seems to me the Bretti could use some love. I've seen them get wiped out as early as turn 3, and they always seem to be on the ragged edge of collapse to the Italiotae by 10 turns in.

It wasn't like this prior we added EDU present in 0.86. Factions were balanced. This new EDU will probably made another balancing work that will be needed to be done. Balancing is best to do in the end when you have all the things layed out otherwise it's mainly spending the time for nothing.

Ladies and gentlemen, erm - gentlemen only I suppose, I have an announcement to make:

    EDU IS DONE!!!!!!!

There are some minor cosmetic things that are left to be done - by this I mean that I could differentiate formation spacing to visually enhance the fighting style of certain cultures but that can be done later on or never Otherwise everything is supposedly as it should be according to Aper's great EDU model.

I'll have to do some test battles with it now to see if it's okey. I don't intend to play a campaign with it to see how it effects campaign. For that task I will ask Pode or someone interested to help me.

    Off to playtesting...

It proved to be a real blessing indeed, the Gods have been in favor for the divine EDU to be completed and it is one of the best balanced EDU I have seen up to this date (subjectivity at work I know)! No seriously, I've played a few battles now and Aper my friend, you are a freaking genius! Battles feel so natural, so accomplished, so oooooh aaaah!

Hereby I proudly present the product of sweat and tears. Take it, rename it to "export_descr_unit", overwrite the original file and test it. Let me know your opinions please.
