HAHA! Maybe it was a tactical withdrawal, I've seen the AI retreat from the field before I attacked them. Either that I really need to get on that balancing.
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.
If two whole stacks leave the field then balancing might indeed be required. "wink"
Every time you , god kills another kitten.
If you're gonna hire Machete to kill the bad guy, you better make damn sure the bad guy isn't YOU!

I still must admit that it feels good to finally have a victory on par with my namesake... :sparta:
That would have been more appropriate if you had actually killed some of them, don't you think?

Well Spartans also won battles because the enemies were too terrified to attack them .
they were pathetically defeated at the battle of leuctra tho
I don't think pathetically is the right word... Epaminondas's reforms simply caught them off guard. Hardly means they were worse soldiers, just means that a superior enemy general with new tactics blindsided them.they were pathetically defeated at the battle of leuctra tho

This is what we ancient historians call a 'popular myth'.

That sentence wasn't right, what I ment was that their reputation caused fear of them being impossible to beat and with some poleis refusing to war or going to war because Sparta joined in. Also in battle some soldiers would be terrified to be fighting the Spartans.
Spartans? Did anyone consider them anything special on the battlefield after Pylos?
Obviously they did as there were still times where a larger force didn't dare to attack a smaller Spartan force (Cleomenes, still pre reforms).
And at Pylos the Spartans first asked Sparta what they should do, they wouldn't have surrendered if Sparta said especially not to do so. Sparta said that they should decide for themselves as long as they don't dishonour themselves. And they remained in their status so they didn't dishonour themselves.
