ZULU - Total War!

"Zulus Sir! Thousands of 'em!"


Basically, It's going to be a small mod initially with custom battles only (maybe a campaign later) that is about the Anglo - Zulu war in the 19th century, with the Zulu tribes united under Shaka battling against the British Empire and their Boer allies. If you've seen the films 'Zulu' or 'Zulu Dawn' you will know what I'm talking about. If you haven't I believe the first one can be found on Youtube.

I've got alot of the mod sorted out, including music, sounds and the like, but what I desperately, desperately need is a modeller to help with this project. The mod itself will only include about 6-8 units in total - As I said, it's a small mod - and each of these units will look rather similar to one another. I'm a useless modeller, and this is potentially a relatively short job for one experienced in that most holy of arts .

Anyway. That's all. I'm not accepting other team members, but if anyone would like to contribute with useful pictures, they'd be most welcome.

The focus of the mod is going to be more on fun than accuracy or realism, and so, as there are a number of different regiments involved on the British side, I'd rather excercise a bit of artistic license and just come up with a generic british rifleman and cavalryman for example. The same goes for the Zulus.

i think if you find a normal normal near naked black warrior you can easily skin to change and just replace weapons with coding and some modelling

Most interested in this mod. My favourite period and have read many books on the subject and seen the film Zulu many times. Glad to give historical help on uniforms, weapons the lot. I wonder though if the Sudan and maybe Boer war could be included i could give all historical uniforms and stuff it would be easy to add in i believe.

Thanks man . Shame about the last one, but some big exams were coming up, and I was pretty much inactive for a month or so.

I've taken a look at the models so far, and I reckon that most of the British units could be made by suitably tweaking the musketeer_ug1 model. The Zulus we could get by editing the Apache models for the americas campaign. For the Boers, I've already got some models (hopefully).

Thanks, all sort of help of this ilk is appreciated. I've found it damned difficult to get hold of good uniform documentations. As for the Sudan and the Boer war, I'm thinking that eventually I'll include those as extra campaigns, but for now I'm focusing on getting a beta running with custom battles only. Then I'll move onto the Zulu campaign.

Editing is ok . It wil cost a lot of work. PM the models you want.

Always consider Zulu equipment
we are used to that all spearmen use an assegai spear type, but on the case of the zulus that isnt the truth.
Instead they used a shorter spear called the 'Iklwa', the assegai was used only to skirmish

I believe the knobkerrie should have its own unit (with the ability to throwing the assegai), because it would be the Zulu's way to counter british armor more effectively.
