Can we remove the girls category because I have a funny feeling it will somehow effect the ToS?

I don't think it will effect the tos. Girls/women are a very beautiful peice of art themselves. As long as the image is within the rules of the TOS i have no objections of it being a competition. There are several beautiful sigs featuring women that are appropriate for a comp here at TWC.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree with y2day. Only nudity is banned and images of girls or women do not violate the ToS per se. Therefore, a competition featuring females shouldn't be a problem as long as the submissions obey the rules.
