nc man i love this mod but can you tell me when the beta version will released
No we can't.
Hopefully not too long though.
1. I have an idea, maybe have grönland (Greenland) and parts of canada wich you can discover(not shown on map) if they've found runes in central-america the vikings probably lived in western canada and parts of the states, the question is how much you can get into the map...
2. and you have to switch the swedish flag, and let a svensk or a norsk wright thedown so you can have äåö and danish ö and stuff in, and not the americanized names for the factions and the units
and 3. Sigtuna was founded by St. King Erik around year1000 so having sigtuna as a city/village (+ its north of mälaren) would be a great historical failure
i wouldn't write this if i didn't think the mod had GREAT potential, I REALLY look forward to playing this mod!
LÄNGE LEVE SVERIGE![]()
that is out of the question at this point, as this is "The Baltic Release"...
there were no Swedish flag at this point, nor "tre kronor".
modern danes and norse use ø not ö, æ not ä, and these letters were not in use at this point. where possible it will be used old norse writing.
you know, there were an older Sigtuna...
Hr.

Let me know if you ever need someone with LOTS of freetime to do beta testing![]()

With the bugs fixed and the finishing touches underway I'm actually looking for someone to help out with closed beta.
Keep in touch and expect a PM in about 2 weeks time. The offer is appreciated!

Not sure if this has been asked already so I'm sorry if its a waste of time but how large will the distances be between settlements? The north is pretty hostile so it would make sense to have a decent space between most of the settlements.
Will ships have an extended range to compensate for a long land distance, as the norse love their longships... and so do I![]()
It's actually really tricky to make it realistic as well as good gameplay with distances. Keeping in mind 1 turn = 6 months.
I'm thinking an army on the move should not have any problems covering the entire length of Denmark during 6 months if it is friendly territory, however that would be problematic for gameplay reasons with enemies jumping in and attacking every which town they want. It would be near impossible to encounter the enemy at open space and it would always be siege battles.
Also the distance between settlements vary a lot, in the south of the map they are pretty close aka 1 turn from one settlement to another, while in the North the distance can be much longer aka 3-5 turns between settlements.
For the ships, they will have a much longer range than on land but it's important to keep in mind the problems that can occur with late game pathfinding if the units have too great movement rate.
Two weeks have passedlet me know as soon as you need a beta tester!

If you need more help with the beta, I have quite a bit of time to spare during this summer.
Hello,
i´ve played two campaigns (denmark and sweden/birka(?)) so far and i´m always in dept with -4000 each turn. i conquered more regions (birka - 12) but still with -3000 in dept per turn.
is there a way to make money i´ve forgotten? or maybe the economy is still beta?
i noticed that the free upkeep is not working - but this could be related to the barracks (only free upkeep if the unit is recruitable in that village).
edit:
seems i´m to peaceful with my neighbors...That's right, go and plunder something. The beta testers were impressed over how efficient their vikings was at plundering, yielding up to 40.000 from a single settlement.
Another way to gain income is to loot corpses on the battlefield, the greater the victory the more income earned (or lost), from 100 to 1000. Also keeping your generals in enemy territory will let the earn a small amount of ravaging-the-land income (500).

Yup, in the beginning it's 2 ways of making more money: Disband your army or parts of it, or go on a rampage. Just remember most of the Rebel settlements will not yield nearly as much loot as the faction belonging settlements.
To be honest I'm actually considering lowering the kings purse or faction income each turn to force an even more aggresive campaign![]()
I love the AI playing style too. Except for the trading part which is a bit too easy to abuse. I just received a city in exchange for trade rights only. And it even told me I was 'very generous' in that...
I've been playing as Ventland on V/H and I expanded aggressively into the east destroying the Prusi and Kursi. Then I did a two front war against the Franks and Novgorod but the Danish then suddenly invaded me with 5 full stacks seizing control of ALL of my major developed cities apart from the former Kursi capital.
Basically, as a result of my army being divided I just gave up on my settlements (since the ones in the east were poor anyway) and took to the sea, I had two full stacks in a pair of longships and i'm just going along the Danish coast pillaging and sacking their cities for resources with the intention of creating a colony in Norway somewhere. The fact that you can keep your army going realistically by sacking cities is incredibly immersive and is an incredible gameplay mechanic that sets this mod apart from the main game.
A question though, are any more factions on that isolated fjord filled area in the north going to be added? The entire northern part of the map is WAY too empty and would be better served with more faction competition. Were there any petty kingdoms active in the far north part of Scandinavia other than Halogaland?
And when he reaches the gates of Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell, "Just one more soldier reporting for duty, i've served my time in hell"
I'd personally love to see the Lapplanders or Sami as a faction (or even both).
Mentioned in Egil's saga, Thorolf Kveldulfsson collects the Lapp tribute for King Harald, and often took a large war party North for the winter, meeting with the Lapplander king, and helping weed out raiders and bandits from the Swedes and Finns, as well as trading.
That's off the top of my head, from what I remember of the saga.
