Thread: [PASSED 01/13/09] [Artifex] Byg (Patron: The Sundance Kid)

    Byg's Application ParagraphHi again,
Well then I'll instead make a statement about what I do, rather what I am as spreading the word on the BGR mods can't be a bad thing.

I began writing Byg's Grim Reality a few years ago for myself to make my RTW games more difficult by adding realistic effects that were not already in the game.
When I got M2TW I offered the BGR I mod to the community, to which I later added a supply system and that was BGR II.
This became default in Stainless Steel and Deus Lo Vult mod & one or two others, reaching about 30,000 users at the time.
Subsequently BGRIII increased features, making recruitment conditional on the circumstances (religious levels, Rank of General, quality of unit etc) & had the ability to be installed into any mod thanks to Nerazzurri who spotted a discussion in my thread about making a program to read the host mod and write the files, automatically altering code where necessary.
BGRIV, targeted at advanced experts, added individual an individual wealth system for Nobles, with nobles' costs for supplies and recruits, interest rates, loans, debt, punishments etc.
Judging by the combined downloads totals, BGR mods now reach up to 147,000 users in DLV and Stainless Steel mods alone.
Ultimately I intend to raise the difficulty so high that it is a rarity to win even for experts.

TSK's Patron ParagraphHaving been a long-time fan of the Stainless Steel mod, I first noticed Byg as he was developing his submod "Grim Reality", a staple of both the aforementioned mod and Deus Lo Vult. Byg's attitude to his work is consistently of the highest calibre and his efforts have improved the gaming experience for many, many members, some who may not even know it -- as he states, almost 147,000 downloads is some feat. Aside from this, he is a polite, modest and well-meaning member, and I feel it necessary to be known that he initially declined to apply for citizenship on the grounds that he didn't want to, stating, "I'm not really comfortable saying how deserving I am. It would be like writing to the Queen saying why I deserve a knighthood."

I'm sure you'll agree his contributions say this more than any words could. Thanks.

    His mod's thread. Here.

Extremely high donwload numbers, popular mod, lots of releases, I can't see why I would vote no. Most probably yes from me, though I'll look at his mod a little more.

I hear his patron touches children. I'm going to have to vote no because of this startling discovery.

Hey, I only touch the female ones...that's gotta be worth something

Ahaaa, I'll love when this passes and everyone can see our posts. I'll probably be VonC'd by the Pompous Brigade.

It's ok. You can get back at them by touching their children.

(You can put wigs on the boys, I won't tell anyone)

    "Just another good modder"?

Well, sir, you are no longer invited to Byg's Citizen-day Party.

It's their own fault for making the CdeC transparent. If they didn't, they would never know how stupid we are. Idiots.

Of course, I'd rather be seen as the light-hearted, friendly member I am rather than one of the Curial Pompous Brigade who are only supported by other members of the Pompous Brigade.

I feel the attitude and approach we have shown in this thread shows what a website should be about, not getting stressed and pissy over mock politics. I can still maturely judge on a person's right to citizenship without being mature the whole damn time. Also, I love how this site is going through the different ages: initially a republic with an elected leader, then an Oligarchy, and then roughly a pre-1939 Bolshevik Russia. What with everything becoming viewable to check up on us, we're transferring to 1984-esque Oceania!

    Isn't that right, fellow citizens?

And if I haven't said so yet, it's a yes from me.

Definetely yes. And right now I'm hooked into SS, so that counts in his favour .
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
