Never give rocket launcher for these guys..

It's just me or it's real that Fallout3 npcs suck with most weapons but they are crazy with rocket launchers?

They can't really miss sometimes...once they have a launcher they shoot like a mad Rambo..even in closed places like bases...
Never mind that they blow themselves up.
It's crazy...

Can imagine that they are.
It was a habit of mine to never give my companions in the other fallout games explosives and still didn't in Fallout 3.
I give them the flamer which they do a good job with.

I'd KILL to find ANY NPC in this game. Holy crap I have been playing near 100+ hours (between a good and evil character) and aside from that dude in Megaton that "won't run with me" for some reason... I mean where the heck does an evil based character go to find an NPC??

A good character can find one in the brotherhood base.

You can buy one in the underworld (ghoul city).

Its generally advisable to never give explosives to NPCs. Thats a rule of thumb for all games.

Here is my advice: They are the tanks in you're group. They're built for it, and have the AI to boot. Any armor you give them doesn't degrade and they can wear power armor when you can't, so its worth it to give to them your best, rarest armor. You on the other hand, can be the ninja. Let the NPCs soak up all the bullets or hits, since the only tactics they use are shoot and move closer to the enemy or close and swing. You meanwhile are the sneak attack crit whore who, if done right, gets all the xp.
NPCs are inherent tanks.

If your neutral/evil you can buy Jericho in megaton for 1000 caps. He's not too bad, very handy with his assault rifle, but does have a tendancy to die.

I edited Clover to carry an Ak-47, since I like her more than Jericho.
Still she complains needing a better gun

same with burst weapons in the first two fallouts.

If you're on a PC, I reccommend using the console to make them essential, thus they'll only be knocked unconcscious instead of dying.

If you want to really see some chaos, give your companion an Experimental IRV and at least 8 mini-nukes. There's a pretty high chance you're going to die.

I'm actually kinda everybody's enemy in this game. Destroyed Megaton, killed the Ghouls, and probably will end up killing all the people in Tenpenny at some point...

NPC's for me are the ones that don't know better..
