i think they are better as emerging faction
as a late challenge when you are already very strong
But now, since we are in the 700BC's, maybe Persia were greater?

yeah, to change the start date of the mod is definitly a good idea, it will also solve the problem of Carthage
But as we move the start date, maybe we should also change the end date? To keep it last as long, or longer?

I assume we are going for historical accuracy. If that is the case, then Persia (as well as the Cimmerians) should be a starting faction. If we are simply going for gameplay, then I suppose Persia could be emergent. But, Persia was definitely around in 800 or 750 BC and, in fact, fought for and against Assyria and took over much of Elam during this time.

so.. what is the new starting date?
new starting date is 753 bc
we could have a starting persia but at about 550 huge persian armies are spawnd
i dont really like that idea it would be very unfair if the player gets so huge armies even if we already conquered the whole world and the faction could also be already dead
i think we can represent the cimmerians with rebells who get armies every, i dont know, 50 turns and attack the nearest faction
we can still add them later
I want to have Persia as a playable faction...

for what i´ve seen, persia should be a playable faction.
so, 753? allrigth, here is the thing. i´ve fuonded that almost every important city in Sicily was founded near the year 700 b.c. but what the hell, i think be can add them as rebel villages and that´s it. about those huge armies of persia, if the player last until 550, i think he should allready conquered a big part of the map, so he won´t need such armies, instead, it will be like Persia is allready an empire so it allready counts with a huge military pool. you said it yourself Stephan, the point of a mod like this is to rewrite history, not to repeat ti.
Agreed Hope Stephan agree

i just read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_Empire
und it makes me think even more they have to be spawnd
they where always a part of the median empire
653 bc they settled somewhere in the former elamit lands but still had to pay tribute to the medes, first under cyrus they united the medes (559)
so why not spawn armies under cyrus somewhere in elamit and then let them conquere the world
taht info gave me an idea... what if we use two persian factions?? the first would be playable (the Median Empire) and the other emergent (Achaemenid Persian Empire)???
LOL i havent notice that the Medes were in the faction list. sorry. in that case, yes, they should be an emergent faction
Sounds even better!

That should be fine. Maybe a rebellion in Median or Elamite lands could cause the Persians to appear, or just a script.

Sorry everyone for not getting involved as much as I should be. I've just been very busy with exams and University.
