    Hello,

I am by no means an expert but I thought that some first impressions on this rich & diverse faction may help guide newcomers.

To anyone English, this faction will have a very comfortable feel. The names, the green lands, the angry celtic neighbours....it is all very....well, like real life!

You have some good units from early on (or so it seems) including access to some very cost effective highland skirmishers. You need to be cautious with troops types as costs do vary & I have found finances to be lean. There is quite a variety so try not to end up with odds & sods all over the place - decide on your unit mix to make re-inforcement easier...

There are some inviting rebel provinces to the West but equally, you face the Bon Chevailers & the Teutons so expand with caution as I do not think you want to start a war with these nations yet.

The rebel groups around here, including the Medici family are tough, much tougher than in vanilla & although your units look good, they can easily match you so stay away. It's not worth stirring up trouble here.....so leave them be, they have excellent heavy infantry & horsies...

Your great opporunity lies in the East & Wotan lands. The O'Neills should be your first target. Get as many longbows as you can but prepare your attack carefully with stacks coming from different directions. The Celts may well cluster so maybe use your King's nightfighting ability to split their stacks, it is possible to use Anglo-Saxon guile to take them apart one at a time....secure these lands, re-group, them prepare for the lands to the North.

If you can sieze any cities on the island/ireland (!) do it quickly - do not allow them to re-arm or re-group. You want them tripping over their tartan before they can scream "Saxons!"

I found a crusade to Wotan lands a useful way to kick off your Viking-bashing. In terms of troops, you know what you are going to face in terms of axes, but add into this, catapaults & plenty of crossbows. You just need to plan for this...

One tactic is to secure the southern Wotan island first. Watch out as they do have a reasonable fleet but it did not attack my troop transports much this time.

Overall, this should you leave you in a good position to re-group your forces for your next target. I have so far found money tight & you have to watch the cost of units as there are some very similar in stats but very different in price.

Manage your free/milita units carefully to ensure you get most bang for buck. Also, convert as many castles as possible as it is not expensive in this mod.

Hope this helps...oh & also the holy grail is in the last cupboard on the left, next to the plates...

    Welcome aboard!

We've been soliciting faction guides from players for quite some time. We've had little success to date. I think part of the "problem" is the number of options open to most factions at the start of the game. That's a good "problem" to have for a player, but not so good for writing faction guides.

What Henry707 wrote above is a good example of a short faction guide that someone starting out with a faction for the first time would find very useful. Also see, as examples, Henry of Grosmont's strategy guides for KGCM 3.6. They don't need to be encyclopedias, just pertinent information for the early game.

So play a faction a few times, write a Guide, and win eternal fame and glory (or at least a place in a sticky thread for Faction Guides )!

Lol, thanks for your response @ aduelist

i made some faction guides on the german board for METW 2, these were detailed information about the military units, some general tactics & strategys , economy tipps and little more. It used to be for the new players of the mod, and for players who cant decide which faction they wanna play.

i even made some for several mods like St.St. or Sword and Spear.

PS: im such a player, who decides the faction that have cool / special units, looks good or maybe the religion or culture.
actually the Reik, the Dracule and the pagan norse are my favs.

I guess i can write a Guide for the Faustian Reich, if i can get it done quite good ^^

I always did those guides in german. Or i can make a guide for a faction, which is not so popular to the most players. For the native factions maybe...or men of wotan, this faction is hard.
