We can't have multiple badge sets. The badges that need to be replaced are these (descriptions are provided for the less obvious ones, for those unfamiliar with the ranks):
Council Officer/Administrator: Note that these are two separate phrases: the rank-holders are administrators, more specifically Council Officers. The "Council Officer" text should be in smaller type, as here.
Senior Moderator: A senior member of moderation staff.
Note: there should be an extra badge (we don't have one now) like the Junior Moderator badge below and with the same color, and possibly with a similar or the same picture, but saying "Global Moderator".
Global Moderator: A junior member of moderation staff with global moderation rights.
Junior Moderator: A junior member of moderation staff non-global moderation rights.
Content Editor: A senior member of content staff.
Note for all three content staff badges: the color here appears to be wrong. The correct color for the text should be simple blue (something close to #0000FF), just like the content staff's names. Whatever color is chosen should be the same as for the tech staff badge, below, since the names' colors are the same.
Content Writer: A junior member of content staff.
Librarian: A member of content staff who manages the Scriptorium.
Technical Staff: A member of the technical staff.
Civitate: A Citizen focused on the discussion side of the site.
Artifex: A Citizen focused on the modding side of the site.
Citizen: A Citizen making no commitment to either discussion or modding specifically.
Creative Assembly: Someone who works for the Creative Assembly, the developers of the
Total War series. One of their logos should be used for the picture, as here (it could be a different one of the logos, though).
Divus: A greatly esteemed ex-administrator.
Opifex: A greatly esteemed modder.
Phalera: A greatly esteemed debater, or other non-modder.
Curator: The one who manages the Curia.
A God in Colchester: Our beloved ex-owner Ian.
The rank names will not be changed. The dimensions could be the same or not, whatever looks good, subject to the following constraints:
- They can't be wider than at present (175 pixels).
- At least two and preferably three need to fit on the left-hand side in some way, either stacked or in a row.
If someone wanted to experiment with some weird shape, that's fine, or you could just stick to roughly the shape we have. You certainly don't have to use the current background banners.
Please provide the layered source files for the images. This could be in a format like .psd, .pspimage, maybe SVG, whatever. Don't just provide a flattened PNG (although provide that too). Layered images are much easier to edit in case rank names change, etc. This isn't absolutely essential, since our rank names seem to be pretty stable right now, but it would be appreciated.
The flattened versions should be in PNG format with transparent edges (unless the visible background is perfectly rectangular and no transparency is needed), not colored to match the forum skin, because the different skins have different colors. If the background is exactly rectangular, they could be in JPEG format too, which doesn't support transparency and should give a smaller file size.
The suggestions posted so far don't seem to have ideal fonts. If anyone could find a more 18th-century font, the way the current font looks medieval, that would be neat.
