Default World Alliances - Modern Edition

So I've been thinking of a sub-game here.

Basically we'll take the map here and a majority of the rules and transfer it to the modern age as a sub game. I'm willing to design the tweaks to the rules system and modify the buying charts.

    No nukes of course though...

We tried this before, a lot of people lost interest quick.

I'd say lets get this one working properly, then after a while move on

The problem with the last one was that it was way too complex, and you had a few people get to start off as super-powers and the rest had to start as regional powers and it sorta made it so the people who had to start week had less fun. I'm thinking something simpler, far simpler.

I agree, but trying to see if there is interest.

Interestingly enough, the MA and CA forums are still in existence, just hidden. Woo scary local mod powers.

I liked CA. It had a small number of good RP-ers and we got stuff done, and it wasn't too complicated. I was fighting Paul d, then it just fizzled out. I kept it subscribed for months, then deleted it. It was a sad moment.

I liked CA till personal problems came up and axeman took a month to respond to a war....

Sundance, do you notice in all these games we are always allies?

    Stop stacking.

I never played CA but I could be interested. Though if there is too many of these games they start dying one by one.

Yep, just like me and Magic Man are. I try and have different enemies each time but I can't help who I like

Its too close to reality, its not really fun.

    Been there, done that.

Also, modern war is extremely complicated...

I wouldn't say outright modern as in 2008 Iraq War modern, but if we would be doing a 'modern' Alliances based on this system here, then use WWII as the inspiration for the setting. Platoon based tactics, armoured warfare, battleships and aircraft carriers, fighters and bombers, all the standards of modern warfare these days, no nukes though.

As for Colonial, it was a good game but it too fizzled out because of various reasons.

I'm satisfied with the two games for now, we'll see if we want some more as time goes on,

still to damn hard, you got to take into account differing weaponry of infantry the effects of tank shock, fighting in a urban environment effect of mechanized units on uneaven ground plus the existense of stock markets. PLus there is aerial combat and strategic bombings just saying I think its way to hard to recreate accurately.

Although maybe I could give the nation of Melag another chance
