Working on a logo, any suggestions? I thought of its basic design last night as I drifted off to sleep, figured I would just do something with the font and the DM combo popped in my head. It isn't exactly how i pictured it but close so far.

A tip is to work with logos very big, say 2000x2000 then resizing. That way bevel and emboss and those stuff will look better.

You have done better, but then again logos are some of the hardest things to design.
I'm having a hard time myself doing that.

Maybe a silly idea: the D with the globe in it is like an eye (= head), so the M is the body (you can rotate it to the right), then the lower bar is the arm that carries the words.
    Hmmm must stop sake me

I'd say that logos should be done vector based if possible. There is so much to gain from doing it that way.

Well I just started on it just was wondering if I should scrap what I had and start over, or if I was onto something.

abbews this is a small version of what I have as I do use a large workspace when doing most of my work.

apple, you are right logos can be hard. Will explore the vector side of doing things as I need more experience working with vectors anyway. The best way to gain experience is jumping in fully.

cedric I will play with it a little and see what happens, but the D as an eye is an idea worth exploring.

For a simple logo most definitely but for game logos that have ton of effect it's best to use PS. The best method is to construct the shape of the logo in a vector program and then apply the effects in PS.

In this case I think it's best to keep it simple so the first for me is the best, but you should try to redo it in a vector program to avoid pixelation. If you have illustrator I can give you some tips

Yes, I've experienced that 2D-Art and especially symbols and logos are better in Photoshop

You know that you can do some vector based things in PS right?

Inkscape is a freeware vector program and quite easy to use, but it focus on vector illustrations, adobe illustrator is better to handle texts imo.

The second one looks great, but maybe try to reduce the shadow/blur?
