    Fallout 3 DLC Revealed

Operation: Anchorage heads the pack in January for 360 and PC.

    by Martin Robinson, IGN UK

UK, November 25, 2008 - Details of the first downloadable content for Bethesda's Fallout 3 have emerged from the vault, with Operation: Anchorage heading the batch for Xbox 360 and PC in January.

The PC will also be getting an official editor for the game in December, appropriately titled G.E.C.K (Garden of Eden Creation Kit). Fallout 3's game director Todd Howard said of the editor, "We've always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users. It's fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can't wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K."

Operation: Anchorage, a simulation of the liberation of the Alaskan city from Chinese communists, is the first of the downloadable episodes. Exclusive to Xbox 360 and PC, it will be followed by two further instalments; The Pitt, taking place in a raider town in Pittsburgh and due in February, followed in March by Broken Steel, which extends the main quest and takes up the story of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Price points have yet to be announced for any of the content.
Overall I am very happy because that is new content every month for the next 4 months.

I am very confused as to how they will be able to pull off Anchorage and Pittsburgh because I do believe they are not near Washington D.C. right?

Well it says that it is a simulation of the liberation of Anchorage so it doesn't have to be actual anchorage, just a town/city with the same type of situation.
    But Pittsburgh however is interesting.
I take it that there will be a train or something that enables travel to that place.

Also good that the editor will be released next month.
And kudos for the funny name for it.

I wonder what exactly that is supposed to mean.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Will that make the player survive the present main quest?

I think it means exactly what it says, they will extend the main quest by simply making it longer.

I am very excited about what people will do with G.E.C.K. Will we have to pay for this tool?

Well I do hope there will be atleast 1 expansion.
Shivering Isle was a nice addition to Oblivion as was Bloodmoon to Morrowind.
So hope they will continue to add new cities/areas.
    New York anyone ??

New York should be saved for Fallout 4.

Uh....pretty obvious these DLC packs have already been completed, they could totally of put these sections into the full game. I guess they held off and kept these sections out so they could make more money.

Quite possibly, but F3 was good value for money so i for one will let it pass.

More importantly to me, they've also announced the CS now

Briefly mentioned it on the Reticule for all interested.

Probably already are. But I would say it's more based on the fact that they were developed late into the development, and would have buggered up all number of things if they had to squeeze them in. Makes sense to tune what's already done than trying to shove it all in without rigorous testing.

    Man, this is awesome.

The CS at least, the expansions sound all kind of meh. I might check them out.

What are those "price points"? I haven't played Oblivion, I really don't know what that's about.
I thought you'd pay money for those downloads.

Oh man you should see all the PS3 whine threads on the bethesda forum. One of the reasons I keep to computers when it comes to games like these. Consoles are for vacations and super mario bros.

Wtf will they cost money? They must have made millions of off FO3 and Oblivion, how can they possibly charge money for downloadable content?

Because it costs money to make it.

Why would they bother making the downloadable content just to release it for free?

The CS will probably be free.

"Price point" just means how much it will cost.

The Point at which the price is set, if you will.
