I mean the "wedge" formation...
We read on the Narses campaign in northen Italy at 6th century...
"Franks deployed their men in two wedge "bodies" as they always did...
Narses ordered his cavalry to dismount and reinforce his center and ordered his archers to deply in right and left of the Frankish asault line"!
We also read at the battle of Poittiers in 711 or 717(i do not remember the exact date) ad...
"The Arabs were over weighted from the spoils of previus raids.
Martelus(the hummer) deployed his men in wedge formation as it was the common habit of his soldiers and marched against the Arabs...that could not defend against the wall of shields and steel"!!!
