The Normans...the only Normans to speak French were the high classed Normans.

You should also figure uout that norman comes from 'Nord-mænnar' meaning 'Northmean' in old Norse.

If it's written 'Normand' in french it's because us Danes say 'Mand' instead of 'Man'.

English is composed of 86% of Germanic dialects,the rest is the share of Greek Latin and French (4%)...

Only the powerfull spoke French because the Normans were always at war with the French kingdom and to negotiate a truce between the two, they had to learn to speak their language otherwise they couldn't understand them!

Yah, I don't speak German as you can tell...and I thought using German would be a little ironic (I obviously know they were speaking Norwegian, haha)

I live in Canada, but I only have a functional level of french. Despite "offical biliingualism", most anglo-Canadians you meet don't speak french (nor feel a need to anyway...unless you want to go anywhere in the civil service/military like I do.)
