Definitely Denmark for me. I'm not Scandinavian myself, but I love the Vikings warrior culture in both an historical sense and in MTW.
Kingdom of Denmark
Jarldom of Hordaland
Jarldom of Vestfold
Norman clans (late Duchy of Normandy)
Kingdom of Wessex

Well I obviously can't pass up a chance to play as Hordaland or Vestfold either seeing as Norway was the birthplace of the vikings in most respects (at least I know the name is thought to have partially originated from a region of Norway just north of the Skagerrak called Viken.)
And nice to hear you're from Norway too. My Dad spent some time in Norway with NATO as a liason officer in the 80s. Said it was an awesome place to be!

Thank you for warm words!
Where are you from?
By the way, Im strong pro NATO. Norway has such a little population, that if countries like, lets say Russia (no offence to anyone), attacked us, we would stand NO chance! So we need NATO. Nice to hear your dad was an officer in NATO.

1. Northumbria - I was always drawn to this faction in Viking Invasions for some reason. I like the underdog.
2. Normans - Their portrayal in this mod looks fascinating.
3. Tough call. Maybe Denmark, maybe Scots? I definitely intend to work my way around to all of them at one point or another.

Who are the Normans actually? Are they from the north? If they are, isnt it strange that sicily can recruit norman knights?

Just a brief history of the Normans. For more, google them. They have a fascinating history. And we have some ideas kicking around on how to deal with them in the game.
So the Normans, are a, for the lack of a better ord, a co-op between Norway and Denmark (vikings) in France?

The Normans were Viking raiders who managed to "twist" the arm of the French who agreed to give them territory to establish a farming and trading colony in Normandy. The managed to keep their independence from the French mostly, except that their language became increasingly infused with French itself. When William the Conqueror laid claim to the English throne and eventually secured it in 1066 after the Battle of Hastings, the Normans brought French with them. For a long time, French was actually the language of government and high society in England. Over time though, modern English began to evolve, incorporating large parts of Latin, French from the Normans and German from the Anglo-Saxons and is obviously the primary language of Great Britain today.

Oh, I will, just mark my words. You will speak a slightly different Germanic language soon enough.
I just remember how difficult invading Denmark and adjacent lands was is in Viking Invasion 1 . I still get nigtmares about it. So many brave Saxons met their deaths at the high sea. It will probably be easier to invade due to the improved ship manuevering (fingers crossed).
Yah, the fleet manoeuvring ability in M2TW will make it a little easier to evade the Viking longships this time around, as opposed to the "omnipresent" ships in any given sea tile in MTW (which was always one of my biggest headaches.) Still, if the Norse have any level of sea supremecy, it won't be an easy task since Saxon ships didn't really cut it compared with the Vikings.

Hmm, as excited as I am to play all of the factions in the Last Kingdom, I'm still going to have to say Wessex.
Playing as Alfred the Great is something I've wanted to do for a long time.
