Tá Éire le haghaidh na n-Gaedheal, agus ní bheidh muid ag ligean aon Norse nó Dane taint di talamh naofa. Beidh mé ag troid ar bith Lochlannach le onóir Gaelacha ar siúl ar an Ard!
oh the pride
1. Munster
2. Connacht
3. The Normans
Although Irish by birth by lineage my family and family name are Norman. So after I conquer the map in the honor of Ireland I will invade the Saxons with the Normans
I guess somewhere in the south of Britian like Kingdom of East Anglia, Kingdom of Mercia or Kingdom of Wessex.
For The Empire - English
For King & Country - Crown of English Monarch
Command Your Army - English Knights
Leave Nothing Behind - Our foes Are All Dead
1. Normandy
2. Vestfold
These are all great factions though, the decisions seem pretty evenly divided!

I'm very suprised Mercia is the least wanted.

maybe because they're one of the most difficult & frustrating factions, with a nightmarish starting position. Other anglo-saxon factions are more fun.
I go with Hordaland (current campaign, very enjoyable). After that... maybe Normans or Wessex, just to steamroll all Britannia.
I'd like to play some Irish/Celtic factions but apparently they have crappy troops compared to others.
The Welsh get Arras men (armoured axemen, see Scottish preview) and Armoured Spear Warbands and Longbowmen as well as welsh bandits (decent axe wielding light infantry) skirmishers (useful) and cheap militia spearmen. I massacred a mercian army twice my size with 3 units of bandits, 4 hunters, 3 longbows and a general by forming a long thin line of bandits who held the line long enough for concentrated archer fire to first decimate the enemy general, then his other units, running my cav general round the side to hit their flank after they were down to about 50% of their men, mass rout, big win :-) Infantry melee is slow but the enemy dies very quickly under arrow fire so pinning his troops and then raining arrows (even on units engaged in combat) really tips the casualty balance in your favour.
Well that was a great tactic used mulitple times by the Welsh for centuries. Especially by Owain Glyndŵr in 15th Century. The use of massed archers I mean.
He also used the age old hit and run and ambush tactics, so suited to Celtic warfare.

Unfortunately hit and run guerilla warfare and chevauchee/raiding has never been very well represented in TW as withdrawing from a battle after you've dealt the enemy a heavy blow still classes as a defeat, even if you didn't suffer a single casualty. It would be nice if you could lay ambushes, shoot some arrows, then withdraw a little and hide further back ready to ambush again, or send a small group into enemy territory to pillage then quickly dissappear into the hills again!
