    After spending my whole afternoon trying to get this to work, I decided I should ask for help. Something seems to have gone terribly wrong with my files. I did everything as instructed, edited all the files correctly, but there is no change in the game! It appears that the game still only reads the vanilla files when launching, and I have no idea why, and I am quite sure I did everything right. The converted files were not turned back to .bin when I ran the game, so they are still .txt. Anyway, I am really frustrated with this, but I am uploading my Mod Folder, so that maybe someone will take a look at it. If a solution is not reached, I will attempt a reinstall, and try to do the whole thing from the start.

    I will take a look. This lesson was posted a week early, so you still have a week. And if someone posts their lesson a day or even a few days late its no big deal really. I know real life gets in the way sometimes.

    I don´t see why you call your cfg file .cfg.cfg ? and in the sound folder there is only event.dats and events.idx, also your world/map/base and imperial campaign are screwed up try re-installing them or copy from some intact vanillas file, also use the ModsBasics.cfg only ones.

    Icedie is correct, your ModBasics.cfg file has the .cfg extension twice. That is why your modded files do not attempt to run.

    When I fixed that, I got a totally different error log though. I am going through everything one file at a time to see if I can find it.

    Give me about 10 minutes.

    The sound files were not created, I already mentioned this issue in the first lesson. That is not my problem currently. About the cfg thing, I guess I did something stupid. When I took out the .cfg in the end, the game crashed.

    Thanks for your input, I'll see what I do, and, if I can't solve it, I will probably reinstall.

    Ok problem found. There is something wrong with the splash.tga file. Deleting it allows your mod to load and run just fine.

    Thank you! The problem with the splash screen is probably the fact that it was not included in the attachment in your original post, so I used the image(by Why?), as the splash screen, without changing anything. So, I'll just take a few screenshots, post them, and be done with it.

    I renamed your menu folder to menu_original, fixed your .cfg file, and it ran just fine. Funny quotes btw.

    Here is your mod folder. Run it like it is and make sure it runs ok. Once it does rename the menu_original folder back to menu and you will get the CTD. Delete splash.tga and download it again.

    The next two courses are scripting and mapping, in that order. Once we get through this one you should be able to figure out most of the text files. The factions part of this course gets pretty complicated as there are 13 files that all have to match exactly for it to work, and gives you a pretty good feel for the game files.

    For doing stuff like units and skins, you need another teacher. I can fumble through skins but I am not very good at it.

    The goal here is to get you familiar with text files, how they work together, and what needs to be changed to get the desired affect. Once you can do this stuff without reading the tutorials and lessons, you should be able to manage nearly every aspect of the mod folder fairly well.

    Ok, since the splash screen is not included in the first post's attachment, and my poor attempt at making another image the splash screen failed miserably, I only posted the quotes and the campaign name changes, but have otherwise done everything listed.

    So, here goes:

    If GED or someone else can provide me a working splash screen, I will post it as well. But, other than that minor detail, you can say that I successfully completed the lesson.

    GED --- Thanks.. Well I am actually already doing some heavy text editing already... trying to do the heraldry for DoTS. Kinda like you for 1066, though not quite as complex as what your doing but similar.. as well as well traits and vnv's.
