If the mod is named on the rapidshare-page you simply download from the download-link in the middle of the screen.

    Icon6 Not saving settings?

Hi everyone (especially AD for such a superb mod!)
My only problem so far (apart from the Devon/Cornwall bridge CTD) is that everytime I load the game I have to reset the entire settings - audio, video, battle ui etc.
Minor I know, but is there anyway around doing this everytime? Before anyone asks, I always 'apply changes' when exiting the setting screens.
    Beautiful game by the way

if you edit the .CGF in the main med2 folder you should be able to permanently change them ^_^
Just make sure to back it up first incase you mess up as it can be a bit fiddly

    .CGF?

Is an editor needed to do this, or just notepad?

open it then click save? Is it set to "read only"?
I uploaded my copy of the CGF somewhere on FKOC so I'll go find it
    here it is http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=358588

You'll still need to change the game settings on it but it should be able to save etc if your still having issues.

    Icon9 Another bug!

Whenever I attack Portsmouth (as Parliament) the game does a CTD after only a few moments of the battle. Almost the same as the Devon/Cornwall bridge but it doesn't even get tot he end of the battle. I'm lucky if I get through the gates!
Error message is the infamous "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit".
If I let the computer automatically handle said battle all is well, but manually it crashes EVERY time. Anyone got any ideas?

hmm I've never had that issue with Portsmouth. Sorry about that old bean =)
what does the log file say? Should be in the main med2 directory under "logs"

You'll need to have the CTD again for it to generate the correct log if you've played it since

Thanks Gaunty, I didn't know that. If it happens again I'll check what it says.
Mind you, my whole PC shut down today and had to have the famous (and very technical) hoover fix. Seems I had collected WAY too much dust and me old vents were clogged.
That could maybe have been a reason .

Could have been, mind you if it was overheating wouldn't the pc comp just shut down completley rather than just CTD

Nothing beats a Hoover and a thin metal stick

Hello - I also have a Med II TW Gold Edition (Steam) and have the same problem as Minydude: the launch icon didnt install on the desktop as the readme file states; neither the shortcut or the batch file launches FKOC from the FKOC folder within the Med II Gold folder. Any suggestions?

    Thank you. Desmo

Firstly there isn't supposed to be a desktop icon, if you check page 1 but don't worry simply right click on the batch file and click "create shortcut" the move it to your desktop =)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    ***REQUIREMENTS & INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS***

For King or Country 1.5 requires Medieval 2: Total War, patched to 1.2 or 1.3. For King or Country team is not responsible
for any problems arising from other installed mods or modification of the core vanilla data files. It is recommended that you
have a fresh install of Medieval 2: Total War and then patched to 1.2 or 1.3.

    Installation Instructions
    1) Open up the for_king_or_country_1_5.exe file.
    2) Select your main M2TW directory. (C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War)
    3) Install For King or Country.
    4) After installation there will be a new For King or Country shortcut in your Medieval II Total War folder. Double Click it. Enjoy.

Secondly....Steam eh? Hmmm....not very familier with that and Med2....I think there was a thread about a Steam friendly version somewhere I'll go check also there will never be an official Steam friendly version, to quote our overlord and master AD

"Steam is an unnecessary pile of dog turd and I won't ever install it" (he subquently has installed it but don't tell anyone)

Is it possible to port this to kingdoms? and can it still be played if you have kingdoms and 1.6 patch?

Clicking open either the batch file or the shortcut initials the Medieval II launcher, which lists as a menu M II and the vanilla kingdoms. Opening M II simply starts the vanilla M II. How frustrating! (I have re-installed 2x and have successfully verified the integrity of the local files per the Steam app)
