Okay, so it had already been mentioned that there's a way to at least replace the .mp3s of the radio stations or add more music to them by using an audio editor.
I'd be interested to hear what people might want 3dog to play. I wouldn't change his style - that means, I wouldn't put, let's say, Slipknot, in.
I'd like to stay true to the original atmosphere of the stations and maybe also select the one or the other song for it's lyrics ("They've got things like the atom bomb. So I think I'll stay where I om.", anyone? )
So far I've got the following musicians on my list, and one of the things I miss most in 3dog's playlist is more of The Blues™:
Bessie Smith, "Nobody Knows You, When You're Down And Out":
Leadbelly, "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?":
Sonny Boy Williamson II., "I'm A Lonely Man":
Howlin' Wolf, "Smokestack Lightning":
But there's also some American folk music from the 30s-50s that would fit into GNR well for variation:
Woody Guthrie, "This Land":
When someday it's possible to create your own radio stations, I'll make one with some that covers the musical timeline from the early 60s to mid-70s (when The Beatles became popular, stuff like what 3dog airs still played on the radio, just like today they still play a lot of 80s music on the mainstream stations!), with some Hippie as radio host (Plaing The Mamas And The Papas: "When the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey..." ). I'd have to record him myself, but I' would dare to!
So, what are your ideas so far?
