A new subforum in the VV should be created for the 'what if?' threads. Alternate history in itself is quite interesting, and they clutter up the forum. I think we should at least try it out.

So if you
Stumbled on a watch I'd assume it had a watchmaker,
That a muffin presupposes a baker,
So you must agree sooner or later,
That this proves that there's a creator.
So if I put my foot in a stinker,
You'd assume the existence of a sphincter,
Thus you don't need to be a great thinker
To coclude that God's a bum

Oppose. This is an incredibly silly idea, and it would lead to a proliferation of flippant (spam)threads.

I see your point. A number of forums suffer from that. Well I dont honestly see the problem if this newly proposed subforum is effectively moderated so that spam/off topic/ahistorical threads are closed etc. *awaits mods telling me that this will increase paper work*
"What if?" threads, if treated seriously, can be quite informative and interesting. After all, all the Total War/EU/HoI games are alternative history.
Tentative support, depending on what the mods say...
Yes, let's kick that crap out of the VV.
Support.

Well, how many of those threads are out there?
Let's get at least a rough percentage here.
PS case in point that moderation works, so there's no need for this subforum:

Even one Godzilla vs King Kong is already too many.

Okay, I support on the condition that this subforum is located in the TWC Cemetery.
On a side note there's a difference between alternate history (a subgenre of speculative fiction) and these kind of spam-threads that come from nowhere and lead to nowhere.
I support this. A local mod can be appointed to move threads about to take the burden off Staff Moderators. History can then be pure history, and the what if's have their place. If you don't care for "what if's", the sub-forum can be avoided.

And close the spam threads, and move those with merit. Just get them out of the VV proper.

Would you create a subforum for one thread? :hmmm:
If you can collect at least 50 what-if threads and link them here, I'll support this proposal.
It's not a too difficult job. Take a look at my example.![]()
Here's one.
Take it or leave it.

Now that's 2. Seriously, how do you expect your proposal to be accepted, if you don't make the background work that would support the necessity of this subforum?
Both VV subfora have at least 50 threads. So go and find at least 50 what-if threads.
1) Don't tell me what to do.
2) I have 4 supporters and 1 tentative supporter.
3) This is a preventative measure, too. This isn't only a proposal to move threads out of the VV that currently exist, but for whenever they crop up too.
