    Default [Decision] Alternate History Subforum

A new subforum in the VV should be created for the 'what if?' threads. Alternate history in itself is quite interesting, and they clutter up the forum. I think we should at least try it out.
    So if you
Stumbled on a watch I'd assume it had a watchmaker,
That a muffin presupposes a baker,
So you must agree sooner or later,
That this proves that there's a creator.
So if I put my foot in a stinker,
You'd assume the existence of a sphincter,
Thus you don't need to be a great thinker
To coclude that God's a bum

Oppose. This is an incredibly silly idea, and it would lead to a proliferation of flippant (spam)threads.

I support. It will clear out the clutter and considering 'what ifs' are a different topic to normal history (whi can remain in the VV main forum) it makes sense for them to have a sub forum of their own.

    Moderate it maybe?

Too late, the VV has already been corroded by them.

I see where you are coming from mate, but you know that this proposal has no chance of passing.

It would encourage the asking of ahistorical questions, which are quite annoying in a history forum.

I see your point. A number of forums suffer from that. Well I dont honestly see the problem if this newly proposed subforum is effectively moderated so that spam/off topic/ahistorical threads are closed etc. *awaits mods telling me that this will increase paper work*

"What if?" threads, if treated seriously, can be quite informative and interesting. After all, all the Total War/EU/HoI games are alternative history.

Tentative support, depending on what the mods say...

We agree in this, and some of these threads should be just deterrently locked to prevent the proliferation of them.

But history forum is for history, not the games.

Yes, let's kick that crap out of the VV.

Indeed, but the point still remains that an alternative history subforum is hardly out of place at a website dedicated to a game that is nothing but alternative history.

Well, how many of those threads are out there?
Let's get at least a rough percentage here.

PS case in point that moderation works, so there's no need for this subforum:

Okay, I support on the condition that this subforum is located in the TWC Cemetery.

On a side note there's a difference between alternate history (a subgenre of speculative fiction) and these kind of spam-threads that come from nowhere and lead to nowhere.

I support this. A local mod can be appointed to move threads about to take the burden off Staff Moderators. History can then be pure history, and the what if's have their place. If you don't care for "what if's", the sub-forum can be avoided.

    Then you do not support.

And close the spam threads, and move those with merit. Just get them out of the VV proper.

It's not a too difficult job. Take a look at my example.

    Here's one.

    Take it or leave it.

Now that's 2. Seriously, how do you expect your proposal to be accepted, if you don't make the background work that would support the necessity of this subforum?
Both VV subfora have at least 50 threads. So go and find at least 50 what-if threads.

    1) Don't tell me what to do.
    2) I have 4 supporters and 1 tentative supporter.
    3) This is a preventative measure, too. This isn't only a proposal to move threads out of the VV that currently exist, but for whenever they crop up too.
