    Oh man I'm freaking!!! I'm a huge HBO fan and I just saw they have A BRAND NEW SERIES COMIN CALLED ROME!!!

    WOOOOOO!!!

    We're talkin like Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Deadwood quality TV show and it's ALL ROME BABY!!!

    When is this supposed to air and what channel is HBO?

    I have HBO, but cant remember what channel it is since I havent seen it for like 3 months.

    It will probably have gross historical inaccuracies. But what the heck! The only problem is ... I don't have cable/dish etc. :angry Hopefully it will come out on DVD sometime.

    Well, I just found some VERY interesting new information about this show. It's a twelve part series and it's being coproduced by the BBC and HBO.

    Here's the press release:

    Ciaran Hinds, Kevin McKidd and Lindsay Duncan head a cast of top British acting talent in Rome, the BBC/HBO blockbuster epic drama series that chronicles the rise of the ancient Roman Empire through the eyes of two foot soldiers.

    Ciaran Hinds stars as Gaius Julius Caesar, the battle-weary commander of Rome's conquering army in Gaul and Kevin KcKidd is Lucius Vorenus, one of the two foot soldiers around whom the drama unfolds.

    Ray Stevenson is the headstrong legionary Titus Pullo, Vorenus's battlefield cohort; James Purefoy is Mark Antony, one of Caesar's powerful political allies; Lindsay Duncan is Servilia, the lover of Caesar and mother of Brutus; Polly Walker is the powerful, manipulative and sexy Atia, Caesar's niece; Kerry Condon is Octavia, the daughter of Atia, who is forced to choose duty over love; Ben Whishaw is Gaius Octavian, who becomes the first Emperor of Rome and Indira Varma is Niobe, Vorenus's stunningly beautiful wife.

    Rome is a co-production between the BBC and HBO.
    The 12-part series begins shooting in Rome this month, with Michael Apted directing the first three episodes.


    The HBO preview showed some explicit gay and straight sex as well as some epic battle scenes and CGI of Rome...

    New series on HBO this fall covering the lives of two centurions who are veterans of the gallic wars, and set from 52BC onwards. looks pretty promising

    From the stuff I've read, it is looking to portray Caesar as some kind of social reformer goody goody who takes over Rome and becomes dictator for life in order to save it from those evil people trying to preserve the Republic and, you know, liberty and stuff.
