    Balikedes: This version will work fine with saved games back to version 4.1.0.

    Kara Kolyo: I have been hunting around the forums to see if I can find out whether this has been fixed by anyone. No luck yet.

    Maraxus: Unfortunately the wonder bonuses can't be used for anything else.

    mmmrrrr: No, there was (still is I think) a script that would reward the GCS if they captured Cyrene.

    Hi Any General help
    faceing a problem in the greek cities. I have all Greece and Mace.
    crete and rodes, i have 4 heavy stations to recruit armored hopelites and spartans from sparta.
    Trying to build sacred band and keep costs down. After meny years of war with thrice they have peace with us.
    Iam building farms, trade, and also seaports Not all expensive opions like as heav greek cav. ect.
    Question is Rome is now at war with me! And they are strong, my income is 24,000 a turn
    and some of the cities are not makeing income but adding to the debt.
    What can i do ? To increase my income?
    cant lower the army. Any good points would be thankfull

    Do you have trade rights with Carthage, the Seleucids and the Ptolemies? I usually try to trade with all the larger mediterranian powers. And I find low to mid level highly experienced units (3 chevrons or more) are cheaper and better then higher level ones, they have cheaper upkeep and they are easier to retrain in the field.

    Maraxus is right on both counts. Spartans and Armoured Phalangites are great, and you will probably need them against legionaries, but most of the time regular phalangites will do.

    Also cities never really have negative incomes. Military upkeep is shared out between your cities according to population and that makes it look like some cities are losing income. In fact they just have a lower ratio of population to income than your other cities.

    Q. So if my income is - 100 i have no troops or anything to build what then?
    i will try tadeing with Seleucids and Carth i dont have nothing there.

    XGM version 4.1.9 is now available for download.

    You can see a (slightly out of date) readme here.

    The major changes are:

    -Added install warning for wrong location
    -Added install warning for wrong version
    -Added Archers to Iberia
    -Changed Iberian Infantry to Town Watch level unit
    -Removed City Militia from Iberia
    -Moved Scutarii to Militia Barracks
    -Changed starting conditions for Iberia
    -Changed starting conditions for Scythia
    -Minor changes to starting conditions for other factions
    -Added various cognomen for Romans (titles like "Africanus" etc.)

    The changes are relatively minor, but I figured it was worth issuing the new version now just for the improvements to the installer.

    hi
    Dime i play greek cities at med med most of the time i tryed
    easy easy for my campaign and i am loseing badly! 1st time also!
    The romans are invadeing mace now heading to Greek towns corn. ect...
    i cant get peace with them. The question is can you help the greeks?
    with more units at the first? Or give me pointers playing this faction
    most of the time i win. Q. why when standing still the romans make it through the wall of greek armoered and the other phall?
    shouldnt the long spears cause problems?
    And send the romans running?
    anyhow thanks for the advice

    swhunter: In fact the Romans became quite adept at breaking into phalanx formations. So while a phalanx is still very strong from the front in XGM, it is not unbreakable, especially against advanced Roman units.

    In order to beat the Romans you need to (1) make sure your phalanx fights on good terrain (either flat clear ground, or downhill), (2) keep some units in reserve to support parts of the phalanx that are weakening, and (most important) (3) don't rely on your phalanx to win the battle.

    Your phalanx will hold them off quite well for a while, but you need something else to strike the killing blow - like heavy cavalry, elephants, hypaspists, elite hoplite units, and so on.

    Thank you Dime this is helpfull, but i see greece in her last days!
    Since they are invadeing with 4 legions to my 1 1/2 legions.
    I havent seen Elephants for AOR for greece i would guess they wont have that correct?
    I havent download your new update since it takes 3 hours to do so
    So i ll wait for the next one
    What ideas do you have for the future for XGM if i may ask?

    Sounds like a good fight. The GCS can recruit elephants anywhere that has an elephant resource (like Antioch or Carthage for example).

    Yes it is sir, one attack alone i had 5,600 troops to Romes 6,400 What a battle !
    We won that one then came 2 more legions on the map. Next battle was my 3,000 greeks
    aganist 4,000 Romes we won that also! With hope in the air we were confident in pushing them back.
    Until some General showed up in the valley with 2 more legions!
    He had 11,000 troops! In the battle 4,600 attacked us aganist our 2,400 my troops were scattered!
    and destoryed on the next turn!
    The Rome are faceing our walls in athans ( which is my strongest force next to Corn) they lost 3,800 there
    my troops on the walls are about 2200 men mostly armored and spartans and sacred band.
    Athans fell on turn 3, romans lost total there 4,600.
    Last strong hold is Corth. sparta has just wooded walls.

    So... could it be posssable to add more troops on map for GCS?
    on the next update? And maybe change the skins for GCS armored hopelites?

    i've downloaded and enjoyed XGM for some time,and i really liked it

    swhunter: I don't think the GCS campaign should be made any easier. But, it is pretty easy to add more starting units yourself. let me know if you want instructions.
