Messing with the descr_regions is the reason I quit using it.

I know Geomod removes invalid hidden_resource entries in it - but I never had it mess up that file, even when I had total garbage in the descr_strat after a crash. That's why I am asking.

I had it take out the descr_regions and descr_strat at the same time. Twice. The reason I went back to Old Skool.

No, I have not tried to fix Octavius' hard work, either.

I understand the importance of backups and always make a spare copy of descr_strat as I had a few geomod freezes that messed up the file, although most of them just cut off the faction standings.. right at the bottom. The first time I noticed geomod messing descr_regions up I had the geomod freeze, checked to see what it had done to descr_strat but it was fine, then (a great frustrating time later) I found regions file was cut off

I wasn't doing anything special either, just error checking if I recall correctly.

The way I understand it: Geomod freezes when it comes across a situation\formatting\text that it cannot process. Apparently the file that has the cause of that problem gets shredded then (and 19 out of 20 cases it is the descr_strat file it seems).

That strange thing where it freezes and cuts off the descr_regions file happened to me a few days ago as well. I'm not really sure why, but what I do know is that it now works all fine again but it doesn't seem to be able to read the rebel_faction_descr file.

If it is an original file, simply replace it - else have a look through that file if you can pick up some formatting differences. Geomod can be a bit picky when it comes to that.

    - 95% campaign's towers and forts
    - 96 - 97% descr_terrain.txt, loading maps

Does the map work when you use it for a game?

Just remembered: those are 'provincial campaigns' - Geomod is not set up to handle that as it only reads from the imperial_campaign folder. My suggestion:

    - Install Bare Geomod
    - Replace the files in that installation with the ones from Stainless Steel
    - Use Geomod on that set

Gigantus , i have stainless steel 6.3 but i want to delete some of the regions and add some natural strategic points in certain regions. When i deleted a region like say adrianople and merge it's color with constantinople to make a bigger constantinople , validate it , update victory conditions to exclude adrianople and start new campaign as byzantium the the game crashes saying there was an unspecified error. Help.

Sigh. I get no error log , just the message.

Solved the problem though , i checked my string bin files. In campaign regions and settlements txt adrianople was still there while in the string counterpart it had been deleted so I backed up all the txt files then deleted them and used the string bin converter to generate new ones. it generated new ones except the strat.txt.string which i reused the one i had backed up , deleted map rwm and loaded up the game and it worked. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

Yup, that's the one thing to keep in mind: always run a conversion of the string.bin files after you saved with Geomod. It is needed anyhow because of the faulty historic_events file otherwise (extremely delayed game start up)

I wonder if there is a way to permanently point Geomod to a certain mod folder? Cause its a bit annoying to repoint it to the same directory every time..
