Trying to change Reality Mod Gold for my own personal use:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...12-Reality-Mod

There was a few issues Geomod detected which I fixed... it no longer throws up any errors at all now. However when I try to play... I choose my faction and click start and the screen goes back to Single Player Screen (Tutorial, Grand Campaign... ect) so it won't load. Any idea why?

EDIT: After reading through this thread it occurred to me to check the log. I found the cause for the crash being a father/child having the same name so the game got confused. I can get into the game now... but now I have another issue.

The mongol invasion occurs as soon as I start ending the game. I did not make any changes at all to the campaign script or mongols.

Geomod does not modify the campaign_script file, the cause of this must be somewhere else. You may have inadvertently created the trigger conditions for the spawn, however the 'vanilla' mongol spawn is initially triggered via descr_events (Geomod modifies the descr_events file):

    Code:
    ; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
    event historic mongols_invasion_warn
    date 128 144
Check if the above entry exists (line 85 in the original file) in this form or if the two dates (turn numbers) have been changed.

Yes those lines are in the original file. I think I should have explained this better, the mongols I don't think actually show up... just the warning message appears then the next turn the game ends. You "Bare Geomod" mod seems to fix a bug for mongols winning... I think this may be what I'm seeing. I just can't pin-point what needs to be changed to fix it. Or it could be caused by Reality Mod itself as it has quite a few text errors that I have found and there could be more that interfere with Geomod.

At this point however, I may just start with "bare geomod" and create my own personal mod.

    Thanks for the help though.

Check my manual, errors are described there:

It will be most likely invalid victory conditions, make a backup of the ...\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaigndescr_win_conditions.txt file and then remove all entries in it.

Hello guys! Im a noobie to modding and I seem to have encountered a problem.. I can open Geomod and all, make regions, save them correctly, but when i load up M2TW ( of course by the launcher I got together with the mod, Executable.exe -> Bare_Geomod ) none of the regions I made appear on the map. I also get the error "Windows can't locate C:\ Program Files(x86)\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\tools\Geomod\"maps"" when I press the "Generating of maps.." button. I don't know if these things work together in hindering my custom made region appear in-game. Please, you would save my day by helping me out with this one Thanks!

Changes not showing: are you modifying files in a mod folder and not the main game? I would suggest to use my Bare Geomod mod folder to get to know how to use Geomod.
Generating of maps: those are info maps, not game maps

Have a look into my manual to get an idea how things work.

    morning people!

I have a problem. Yesterday I tried and failed to add a new faction, based on byzantium. I went back and deleted all the entries and references to the new faction and I can now load the game and start a campaign. Sadly Geomod won't load my mod anymore.

    error message:
    "Fatal error!

unkknown faction or culture '' detected at the EDU at line 1510!"

    The entry in EDU is:

    Hi Irishron

    Line 1510 is

    "ownership byzantium"

It is the first place in the file byzantium is mentioned.

Are the unit entries in the export_units.txt?
Is the entries in the battle_models.modeldb for Byzantium?

Past this I'll let someone else handle it.

If the faction exists in the descr_sm_factions file then the only issue would normally be a surplus comma at the end of the line (Geomod is a grammar Nazi ), not sure if surplus trailing spaces will do the same. Delete your line in the EDU and simply copy\paste the 'code' line underneath:

    Code:
    ownership byzantium

Edit: seeing that the cataphract is the first Byzantium unit in the EDU (and that it worked before) I would however assume that it is a spelling issue in the descr_sm_factions file.

    Thanks a lot guys!

Went through the whole export_dscr_unit file and found some leftover commas, cleaned it up and now it loads fine. Ye Olde Ship is back sailing on smooth seas

Something similar is happening to me too. I am trying to learn to use geomod, its not that hard, but I encountered an error. So I began anew from the most simple of things, I changed the faction primary and secondary color. But in the log I am having this error:

    12:34:25.252 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/IB2_Vandalorum/data/export_descr_unit.txt, at line 188, column 18
Invalid ownership type 'france' found in unit 'Peasants'.
12:34:25.252 [data.invalid] [error] DATABASE_TABLE error found : error reading record from file mods/IB2_Vandalorum/data/export_descr_unit.txt.

In the file every thing looks OK, but when I copy and past the text from my backup mod the error persists.

    Cheers

It looks as if the faction 'france' is not in your descr_sm_factions, hence the error relating to ownership in EDU. Did you change the colors manually? Then may be you made a formatting error. You can change the faction colors in Geomod via Factions\Various.

First thing before working on a mod with Geomod (after making the necessary backup) is to simply open and save the mod with Geomod. That will show if there are any issues - those need to be removed first.

Thanks for the replay Gig. I change the faction color with geomod, and that when the error came out. I copied my backup files in the folder, and did the thing manually. Then I loaded both the game and geomod without any errors or ctd's.

    Cheers

That would confirm why I put the 'First thing...' paragraph at the end of my post.
