    Okay the first log is just using the files you editied, the second is those and running the mod through Geomod. Would you like me to do the unaltered files through Geomod as well?

    OK - I see what happened. Geomod messed up the extreme ages of some characters and turned them into negative figures.

    Compare those age entries, eg Arador age(-106) to the original entries an correct them.

    The last error is the fatal one (and not the only one) - apparently the whole faction had it's armies removed, possibly because of some format issue (SPACE instead of TAB?), check with the original and copy back:

    My take - it might be difficult to use the tool as there are too many instances where the 'normal' limits are exceeded or custom entries are being used. If you just want to work on the map then simply copy all required files into a seperate folder and work with them there - then copy the map files back for use.
    Like only the map_regions file I uploaded to get correct religion values.

    Tip: if your log is excessive then compress it (7Zip is freeware) and attach it.
    Tip2: to check were a mod's log is supposed to be check this entry in the mod's CFG file, example for the MyLog file in the main game's sub folder 'logs':

    Okay it works, i can edit regions, but if i add resources or watchtowers it stops working (im assuming because they arent properly in the Descr-strat file ill tinker to see if i can do it manually). However a weird problem emerged and its that several religions seem to have gotten swapped around?

    Hello, I completed the 'basic mapping from scratch tutorial' by Gigantus, but now I can't run the mod. When I run the Universal Start.bat, it load for a few seconds (I see the first screen with the Medieval 2 picture) but then it closed itself. According to the logfile that was generated in the Medieval 2 directory there seems something wrong with the ownership of certain units (especially with units from Scotland):

    These are the only errors according to the logfile. I countered this with deleting the scotland ownership of the 'cog'. But then when I tried again, a different unit had the same problem with Scotland. It is notable that I could run a freshly installed geomod. But when I completed the tutorial and I can't anymore. I have probably made a mistake somewhere, but I didn't changed anything in the textfiles except the ones that I should have changed according to the tutorial. What should I do? Ban Scotland from the mod, or is this solved by doing something differently?

    Found this thread, apparently related. Try the solutions from post 4 as it could be a wrong reformating of your descr_sm_factions, or the one from post 6 if you tried the pests and built_sieges options from the tool? Honnestly I woudn't recommend using the tool for anything else than mapping, attributions of buildings and hidden ressources to regions, and simple search of coordinates. All the rest I am always doing manually, as some 'extras' options of geomod seem unstable.

    It looks like you changed the descr_sm_factions file, something happened to scotland.

    The tool comes quite handy for setting up infra structure in settlements and placing armies as well, one time settings as you mentioned I also do manually out of habit.

    Hello - I'm hoping you can help me out. I've used Geomod a lot over the years (mainly with TATW) but now I've run into a problem.

    I'm trying to use it to tinker with De Bello Mundi, but I'm getting an error message when loading Geomod. At 47% loaded there's an error message saying "The label 'stilia Anuli' does not correspond to any name!" Can you tell me which file is causing this problem, because I can't find that 'label' in use anywhere...

    If I dismiss that error message Geomod goes on to CTD at 79% loaded - I don't know if this is a separate error or the same thing!

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    The name issue shouldn't crash the tool, it will be the 79% freeze. The manual contains a list of error messages, the name one is self explanatory: the name used in descr_strat is not listed in data\name (under that faction) and may also not be listed in data\text\names. It could be a simple spelling or small\large caps.

    79% freeze - that's at the beginning of descr_strat and is usually a resource entry, eg a missing or surplus comma

    Thanks for the swift reply. Managed to get it working by cutting the resources section of descr_strat.

    The name error is still coming up though, and what's weird is that the quoted problem name is nowhere in the descr_strat file. Are there any other files it could be in? Or could Geomod's error message be misquoting the problem name?

    Check descr_names if it is there, if so then it's counterpart will be missing in text\names. I would suggest to look just for 'anuli' (in descr_strat as well) as I am suspecting a formatting issue, eg non standard characters like Æ Ñ.

    Finding the resource error can be tedious - add the resources back 10-20 lines at a time and start the mod. That should then give a better overview where the problem might be. It's a comma issue usually.

    Gigantus, I got a problem when using the tool. When I want to generate maps (resources, faction's initial position, etc...) I don't get any map. Usually when you click the "Generating of maps" option, the tool will automatically generate every type of map but I don't get any maps! Do you know what it can be?

    Also whenever I create a new region, I follow each step and save it correctly but when opening the game, the region doesn't appear. Does this issue has anything related with the generating of maps problem?

    First time I am hearing that - are you getting a progress window after choosing the folder where to save the maps?

    New region doesn't show up either: if you haven't had problems then I am suspecting a virtual store issue. Follow this tutorial from step 3 onward and then delete the medieval ii total war folder in the virtual store if it exists.

    The first time yes. But then I created the maps folder and still no map type appeared. Now, after following the steps, I solved my issue. Thanks Gigantus, now I can mod without any problem. It was the VirtualStore thing...

    Hello, i don't know if anyone else encountered this issue (tried to google) but my Geomod map is unusuable. It's almost impossible to hover your cursor over it, it throws you back to the edges of it instantly, particularly on southeastern part of it. Zooming in and out is barely possible, drawing new regions utterly impossible. Rest of the tool works fine as far as i can see. Happens with whatever mod i try to edit. It should be the latest version (0.6.18) of it. Any idea of what it might be?
