i would choose romans first out of curiousity, but would probably change to the franks or one of the goths- i like the idea of recreating an empire as opposed to saving one from collapse

Our Saxons in AoD2 are controlling the eastern part of the british island. The year of the famous battle of baddon hill is historically debatable. That's the reason why you have to fight this battle at the beginning of the Saxon or Romano-British campaign ;-)
I've noted that nobody voted for the Turingi. (Thüringer)
To make a little bit commercial for them: According 80 burials found arrounf Erfurt (germany) they were a horse-loving nation. And we have tales that they were masters in horse breeding and horse trading. Obviously they don't used axes (or better said very rare). Most weapons were the Sparta and the common spear.
Compared to the Burgundi or Goths - the Turingi had still a lot of typically german elements. That doesn't mean that they were still barbarians. They had meanwhile a modern kingdom which was in many ways very middle-age-like.
Well, if somebody hasn't voted yet - now it's a good chance to do (for any faction of course - not essentially for the Turingi :-)
The Thurigian kingdom in AoD2 was conquered very soon in reality in the 530s by the Franks. However, they always kept a certain independence so long they paid money to the frankish empire and farm-animals (esp thousands of pigs every year).
The capital of the Turingi was always Erfurt, that's also the reason why I put this city+faction to our map.
A good player can try to expand to the east very quick at the beginning of the campaign - and let's hope he can defend his small kingdom, surrounded by Burgunds, Franks and Saxons.
Today Erfurt is the capital city of Thuringia and is the main city nearest to the geographical centre of Germany.
The city itself is mentioned the first time in official documents in 742AD. But that doesn't mean that the city was founded in 742. The tribe of the Thuringi is mentioned before 500AD arround the city Erfurt and this tribe gave the region its name. Archeological findings from an early city are also located around the cities' area from the end of the 5th century.

Armenia looks like a nice play, it will be challenging with one side Romans and the other side Sassanids. The Bulgars would be a nice addition since the Alans werent united and though much isnt known about the Bulgars we know definatly they were pretty strong...
I wanna land Ostrogoths near Jerusalem
Saxones!Burn the Britons!
we need this slot for another thing.
It can be the scripted appearance of a muslim-arab- nation, or we use it as rebels for the Romans (then we can use the loyality). I want avoit the usage of any kind of script in our basic-AoD2 - so it's probably option 2.
There is also an option 3 (concerning the rebels), but this is a secret.
Imperivm Romanvm because I simply love the high point of the Eastern Roman Empire! Can't wait to play this mod!
Imperivm Romanvm restore Roman glory !!!!!
Saxones being the closest to the almighty Vikings
but it would have been nice to have the English names as I dont even know what most factions are, such as Persarmenia, Regnvm Gepidorvm, Regnvm Sveborvm, etc...
the problem is that those factions had historically no english names. And if you don't know the meaning of some country-names you can ask us here in this forum or use google. Also Wikipedia can help for sure. Beside that I'm not sure if it's really difficult to "guess" the meaning of persARMENIA or Gepidorum.
Just a quick question: what about the Avars?
Will they sort of be featured through the Hunni and Bulgars?
